Overview

This raw brownie recipe is one of my most popular recipes, probably because it is so easy and turns out so well. Walnuts, dates, coconut, cacao and salt combine in a food processor to create a surprisingly delicious traditional-style brownie. Top with chocolate icing for even more chocolate goodness!

Directions

  • 1. Place pecans alone in your food processor and process until the pecans become small and crumbly.
  • 2. Add dates to the raw brownie recipe and process again until the mixture sticks together and the dates are well processed.
  • 3. Add the remaining ingredients to this raw brownie recipe and process again until the mixture turns a lovely dark chocolatey brown. Stop processing before it gets too buttery. (There should still be air between the small bits so that you will be able to press them down into your brownie pan.)
  • 4. Dump the mixture into a brownie dish or small cake pan and press down firmly using your clean hands.
  • 5. Refrigerate this raw brownie recipe for a couple of hours. You do not have to refrigerate it, but it is much easier to slice when chilled. By the way, this is actually a raw brownie recipe that keeps its shape! So it can be good for serving to non-raw fooders because the presentation of this raw brownie recipe is good when chilled.
  • 6. Store this raw brownie recipe in the refrigerator if it lasts that long!
  • PS: For an even more delightful brownie, serve it with this easy, instant raw chocolate icing.

The Rawtarian's Thoughts

By The Rawtarian

Raw brownie recipe -- finally, a raw brownie recipe that tastes like REAL BROWNIES!

I am quite surprised and amazed at how the texture of this raw brownie recipe resembles real brownies--especially after this raw brownie recipe is refrigerated for about an hour or even longer.

My husband thinks this raw brownie recipe needs chocolate icing, but I disagree. I think it's perfect on its own! (But it is true, everything is better with raw chocolate icing on it.)

You can also use this raw brownie recipe as a pie crust or as very chocolately raw truffles.

Good luck trying to keep this raw brownie recipe around for longer than 24 hours. This vegan recipe would be good for about eight small servings. Feel free to double the recipe if you want more or if you want to make it last longer. (I usually double it.)

Advanced optional tip: Throw 1 tablespoon cacao nibs into the mixture after processing and before squishing into pan for fun crunchy texture!

I've got a question, and I'm sorry if you've covered this somewhere else but I'm looking for advice. I do not have a food processor and I'm wanting to get one for some of these recipes (I have a Ninja 6-blade blender so I'm thinking that wouldn't work for things like brownies or other drier blend-ups). What size processor should I be looking at? I think 2 cups is obviously too small, but I wonder if the 10-cup ones are too big for making recipes like yours.

So, what's an ideal starter size for a food processor?

Thanks! Love, love, love your website. I saw a girl buying almond milk at the store and wound up giving her your website after telling her it's cheaper to make it (especially if you use things like almond flour or want some fun recipes for the raw pulp). She immediately took out her phone and went to your website to check it out. :-)

This has been my favorite dessert of yours I've made so far (although the chocolate mousse is also very delectable). It's true what you say about looking like a full blown sugar dessert/brownie. I made this for a wedding shower and it was a huge hit among all the guests!

Hi, you can eat it frozen (if you can't wait!) or defrost it in the fridge (where is should be kept anyway if you're not freezing it). :)

Great brownie recipe! Tastes delicious and super quick to make. I also love the chocolate icing suggested with this recipe, but honestly, it's not needed because the brownies are so amazing!!

Yummy!!! I eliminated the honey/maple syrup as find the dates make it sweet enough for my tastebuds.

on the app your brownie mentions a silkie raw chocolate icing recipe, but the "here" is not a link. How can I find the recipe? Also your fruit plate looks beautiful, and the dip looks amazing, but I don't see the recipe for it, either. I thought it would be with the fruit plate recipe--since you don't really need a recipe to chop up a plate of fruit!

Hi I love your website. Looks like yummy raw recipes. Hey I want to print your raw brownie but there is nothing I can easily print with. Do you have print buttons on your website?
Thanks!

Hi, Lorraine. There is a red Print button on the recipe just below The Rawtarian's Thoughts. It actually says Download Recipe as PDF, and that's where you'll be able to print it up!

This is the first "raw" recipe that I've attempted, and was really satisfied with it! I am now intrigued with this new culinary discovery. For some time I have been becoming more and more disgusted with the processed and inhumane foods, and with websites and recipes like yours and others I am optimistic and excited for the next meal!

Great recipe! I really enjoyed this brownie and also used the icing recipe. I found it too be a little to sweet for my liking, so will try omitting the honey next time. Thanks for this!
