    1-2 cups of dried shredded coconut
  • Equipment

Recipe Directions

1. Cut the coconut meat into little pieces (not too small).

2. Dehydrate it for 24 hours or more to get it as dry as possible.

3. Put it on “chop” in a food processor until the coconut turns into shredded coconut.

4. Store in the freezer in an airtight container.

that's true angie. But I read online somewhere a long time ago that when the shredded coconut travels oversea it discolors due to exposure to the hot sun, as it travels through tropical areas usually. To prevent this, they add toxic chemicals that prevent the discoloring. That's unfortunate, because this is alot of work. oh well, maybe there's a company out there that doesn't put chemicals in it. :)

Wilderness Family Naturals sells raw, dried shredded coconut. But this is good to know if you don't have access to the raw stuff.
