Evergreen's Thoughts

This is quick and easy. It keeps me going until lunch.

Also makes a creamy, rich ice cream in half the normal freezing time.

This recipe is perfect if you have a magic bullet or a blender with that stirring stick top. If you don't have a powerful blender, you may have to stop and stir a few times.

I just tried this using the Cuisinart “smart stick” immersion blender, and it was awesome! This is a great way to go! It was quick, super creamy, whisper quiet, and clean up was a breeze.

By the way, the picture was just to make a point. Don't try that at home!

Pianissima - "so much cheaper" sounds great. What do you substitute the sesame seeds for and what result do they give?

Funny how much of a difference it makes it you freeze or don't freeze the bananas.

I just had this for a mid-afternoon snack and it was delicious! Mine wasn't quite as thick though - I used fresh bananas! But it was still yummy :)

I finally got around to buying almond butter. Yay! I will freeze my bananas tonight! Thank you so much for this recipe! It sounds like it will help me when my cravings overpower me. :)

rawk 'n rawl: For creaminess, you can try avocado or durian. Young coconut (the meaty kind) can be used too. Papaya and mango are probably second shelf choices. All these choice are simpatico w/cacao! :)

hi everyone! thanks for the input...as far as the taste, i may have just gotten used to it but i really dont notice the banana.you could adjust the other flavors to your liking,or add a spoon of cinnamon as i sometimes do in place of cocoa.

Does this have a real banana taste? I am so tired of my ice cream and smoothies tasting like a dumb old banana. I like em, but it is getting really tiresome.

Ooh, ginger! Wow! I make mine waaay more chocolatey, too, but I never thought of tahini or almond butter, that sounds a lot easier than blending up the nuts. :)

oh, i add sesame seeds instead of tahini in most recipes that call for it (since it's getting ground up anyway). that freshest tahini you never have to make (or buy). sorry that wasn't clearer.

i discovered last night that you can add sesame seeds to "batter recipes" like these. so much cheaper and has the same result.

looks yummy.

ginger is also lovely in these (if you like ginger, which i do)

That's a lot like the stuff I make!! I use three organic frozen bananas, two heaping tablespoons of organic cocoa powder, two tablespoons of agave, and a dash of sea salt. YUM.
