Recipe Directions

1. For the cobbler crumble, place the nuts, coconut, cacao powder, cinnamon, and salt in a food processor, fitted with the S-blade, and process until coarsely ground.

2. Add the raisins and process until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Set aside.

3. To make the cherry filling, take about 2 cups of the cherries, chop them, and set aside in a large bowl. Then place the rest of the cherries along with the water, dates, and agave in a blender and process until smooth.

4. Pour into the bowl with the chopped cherries and stir.

5. To assemble the crisp, sprinkle 1/2 of the cobbler crumble ingredients into an 8-inch square glass-baking dish. Press down to make a crust.

6. Spread the cherry filling on top. Sprinkle the remaining cobbler crumble on top of the cherry filling.

7. Serve at room temperature, or warm in a dehydrator for up to an hour at 130 Fahrenheit for extra deliciousness. (I highly recommend this for when you want to eat it warm.)

Yum Yum!! I made this sunday night for a dinner party I hosted at my place - turned out fabulous!! I used carob instead of cacao for a not-so-rich chocolaty taste. Thanks!

Do you think this would work equally well with strawberries? Any recommended substitutions? I'm not particularly fond of cherries, but this looks good, and is so simple.

Also, has anyone tried it with sunflower seeds instead of the nuts? It would be more economical if the seeds will work.

btw... I believe that littlebirdie's suggestion of trying it with Blueberries would be fabulous too. Have you ever tried the "Sea Turtle Bar - (Dark chocolate & Blueberries) from the Endangered Species Chocolate Company? It's REALLY good. I'm pasting a link to a webpage that lists it: http://www.veganessentials.com/catalog/endangered-species-chocolate-company-chocolate-bars.htm

Bitt,

In the directions for the filling, you mention chopped cherries then chopped strawberries...did you mean cherries? I had this at a brunch the other morning and just loved it, would like to make it this weekend. Thanks a bunch for sharing :)

My gosh, Bitt, this sounds incredible! I'm going to try this next time I see cherries. I bet it would be great with blueberries, too.
