Yummy Raw Brownie Bites!

Recipe Directions

1. Soak the dates and raisins for about 30 minutes.

2. Remove the pits from the dates

3. Put the almonds in the food processor and pulse 6 times.

4. Add the dates and raisins to the processor with the almonds and process until everything is combined and the mixture starts to pull away from the sides.

5. Remove mixture from the processor and form into balls.

6. Roll the balls in some almonds, coconut, or cocoa powder for added flavor.

Soaking also gives a much creamier/fudgy texture. The best treat is to make the raw caramel sauce on this site for dipping these! Oh! save me now! It's only breakfast!

artzyfartzy: I, too, have a tight budget, but I just bought an awesome food processor at Goodwill for $6.99! I bought a small one there a few weeks ago, but it couldn't handle the amount I wanted to prepare, hince the larger one. I guess that means I bought 2 "used" (in awesome condition) food processors for $11. Woo Hoo! Maybe there is a thrift store near you that has just what you need or you could post an ad on freecycle or craigslist looking for one. As far as counter space goes, I currently have an abundance, but we lived in a much smaller place a few months ago and I needed an alternative. Luckily, I found a cart (on heavy trash day) that needed paint, so I took it home, fixed it up and kept it in the hall with my appliances stored on it and just wheeled it to the kitchen when needed. Good luck!

silent_advocate: yes, vita mix's run alot ( although I got mine used for $150 ) I plan to perhaps buy one eventually ( money is now tight for me ) ...and I have like literally no counter space left. ( my dehydrator is on the floor as we speak. )

I made these yesterday and they are very very good. This could be a staple for me. I wanted something tart to go with it so I processed/blended a kiwi and put the goop in an indentation of the brownie. Then I dehydrated the entire batch (12-14) for 2-3 hours. Next time I'll use more kiwi because it shrunk more than the brownie did.

artzyfartzy, doesn't a vitamix run like $300 or $400? I bought my food processor at bed, bath, and beyond for $32, intentionally a 3-Cup capacity model because I uncook for one, but it was an awesome investment and has not caused any limitation in my preparation so far... ;)

This sounds awesome and I've got all this on-hand, but is soaking and drying the almonds necessary for texture? Or is it a digestive thing?
