I bought some BBQ flax crackers, but they had non-raw ingredients. They were great with a raw sandwich, they fulfilled that chip taste and feel that works so well with a sandwich on a picnic! So, I decided to make my own. Super easy! Based on this raw BBQ sauce recipe.

Recipe Directions

1. prepare the sauce according to directions

2. mix the sauce with the soaked seeds. I generally soak the seeds in the same quantity water as I have seeds. I have also added other seeds such as chia, poppy, sesame and buckwheat groats. 3

. Spread on Teflex sheets, very thin for a chip like texture, thicker for crackers.

4. Dehydrate at 105 until they are dry enough to peel from the Teflex sheets.

5. Flip and dry until they are nice and crisp.

The link is gone. Do you have a recipe somewhere for the sauce? I'm looking all over for a recipe like this. Thanks much :)

BBQ Chips (AKA Flax Crackers)

5 out of 5

Really these were great, if you use more flax you will want to use double the barbeque sauce. I cant remember if the sauce recipe called for it but I used cayenne pepper and it had some kick which was great. ( I also added some cumin and paprika... because I used more flax and didn't have enough sauce) I don't think it would have been necessary had I followed the recipe exactly though.

I love it whole because you can bite into the seeds. They soften a little, but still make for a very crisp cracker. Let me know how they turn out!

Dani - I just got done with the sauce and I was going to make these and realized i needed to soak the seeds. I think i'm gonna grind up the flax and sunflower seeds and mix with the sauce. I've never made a cracker or chip w/o grinding the flax. How does it taste with it whole?
