Recipe Directions

1. Mix all the ingredients, except for the shortbread, in a large bowl. Mixture should be sticky and gooey.

2. Spread 1 1/2 recipe's worth of shortbread dough in a pie dish to form the shell of the tart.

3. Pour the filling on the shortbread crust.

4. Use the remaining 1/2 recipe's worth of shortbread to make a lattice design on top of the filling.

5. For the best consistency, put the tart in the fridge and let sit overnight. Enjoy!

This is almost exactly like the real English treacle tart.

I have always wanted to try some after reading Enid Blyton books.

I'm going to try making this with sunflower seeds coz I don't do nuts at the moment. Can't wait, it was a favourite when I was cooked. The cooked version is made with breadcrumb mixed with treacle. This version looks great thank U for posting it!

Unbelievable. That picture really does look _GOOD_. I have some macadamia nuts that would go great in this. Is the whipped cream made from young coconut and cashews, before you added mac nuts?

I SO want this! Do you think the shortbread could be made with any other nuts? Macadamias are so expensive! Thanks for the recipe!

Yes- My camera is in operation now! The cream bit is supposed to be like clotted cream, so I just thickened raw whipped cream with more macadamia nuts
