Raw Food Punk's Thoughts

By Raw Food Punk

In my efforts to make the raw chocolate halvah, I realized I was super low on cocoa powder. Ouch!

Fortunately, however, I've decided bumps in the road like that are perfect opportunities to get creative so I started experimenting with some other ingredients until I had something worth eating!

I started adding vanilla, then threw in some coconut oil, plus the little bit of cocoa powder that I did have.

The nutty sesame flavor mixed with the chocolate, coconut, and vanilla give these little "truffles" a malted chocolate flavor that really surprised (and delighted) me.

Definitely a successful endeavor. Enjoy!

I love halva. Using tahini was such a good idea. I've made halva balls but started with sesame seeds. I'll definitely make these when I get to go shopping at Whole Foods.

Raw Malt Balls/Tahini Truffles

3 out of 5

I whipped some up this evening after having some major cravings. I used tahini, cocoa powder, vanilla, and a healthy squirt of agave.

It was way too sticky and wet to roll into balls so I spread it on top of a raw cookie and chowed down. Even ate a few spoonfuls by themselves too :)

I liked this. I just gave it a whirl. I desired a little sweetener, so added a touch of agave. Thanks for the recipe!
