4-6 brownies
Ingredients
1/4 cup raisins
1/4 cup walnuts
1/4 cup water from one young coconut
Pinch of sea salt
1 tablespoon carob powder
1 banana
Recipe Directions
1. Grind the walnuts, banana, and raisins in a food processor.
2. Pour the chopped up mix into a bowl and stir in the coconut milk, salt, and carob.
3. Stir well until it forms a sticky batter.
4. Spread batter 1/2 inch thick onto parchment paper.
5. Dehydrate for at least 6 hours (times may vary). The dehydrator times are what worked for me so use your best discretion, based on your own machine.

By vabeachcgI created this brownie recipe because I was bored at home one day and was supposed to go on a date but didn't because my significant other had to work.
The namesake is sort of a double entendre because I wanted to make some brownies but didn't have enough dates.

joanna: I found raw carob at a really tiny healthfood store. everything was kind of dusty - and a lot of things were expired. anyway, the carob was still good, and I'm enjoying it.
This recipe looks great - i can't wait to try it

This is similar to something I have done, only I don't add any water, and I don't dehydrate it. It is yummy. I do wonder if the water & dehydration makes much difference in taste and texture? (I also noticed in the body of the instructions that you mentioned "coconut milk", but am assuming you mean "coconut water" as is mentioned in the ingredients list; right? Coconut milk, I imagine, would definitely make a change in taste and texture.)

i did mean coconut water...and i made a variation with banana and that helped to hold it all together, esp in the dehy. oh and i did use raw carob...one store here (the depot down the street) carries it.

This is similar to something I have done, only I don't add any water, and I don't dehydrate it. It is yummy. I do wonder if the water & dehydration makes much difference in taste and texture? haha i love the name of these (mainly because it's corny funny).
do u use raw carob? i've been to 2 natural foods stores so far and they only have roasted.
