These brownies are hands-up the best brownies I've ever had. The flavor is just insanely addictive and delicious. I've fed them to SAD eaters and they loved them just as much as me.

I made these and though I only had one cookie size worth, the combination of hard to digest fatty nuts and cacao and high sugar dates sent my system into complete shocky overload :( Still searching for a tasty lowfat raw chocolate brownie recipe...

i think regular dates (like deglect noir) would work fine, but you would need more of them. medjool dates are so huge.

i'm glad you liked it cvc!! i decided to add the macadamias because they are so rich and they make the brownies really fudgy.

Sounds yummy. Are medjool dates necessary? They are very very expensive here. Can I used regular dates?

I use carob powder and have made these a number of times. They taste better each time. For me the trick is blending thoroughly and adding the dates one at a time.

I've frozen them and they are better that way. I may have also put in too much cacao. I can't figure out my reaction since I can eat plenty of dates and nuts at one sitting. Weird.

I guess it was the intense flavor that everyone loved (according to what my class said). It's interesting how different everyone's tastebuds are, but I hope you can change them so you like them. I think the grated carrots or grated apple is a good idea, even a mashed banana. Also, you may want to try 1/3 cup cacao and see if that makes a difference because most of the flavor is from the cacao. Maybe add a vanilla bean if you just use 1/3 cup. I tasted it as I went along and found that I loved the 1/2 cup flavor.

I made these for Christmas and I must have botched them somehow, even though I followed the recipe exactly. The first bite is OMG wonderful but that's all anyone can eat! They're soooooo intense and heavy. I think if I make them again I'll try putting in some greens and maybe grated carrots to dilute the sugar and fat. But I'm open to comments and suggestions.
