2 cups strawberries (fresh or semi-thawed, but completely frozen will be too hard to blend)

1/2 cup dates

1 tablespoon chia seeds

Directions

1. Add all raw strawberry sauce ingredients to your high speed blender.

2. Blend until smooth.

3. Refrigerate for an hour.

4. Use as a strawberry sauce over your favorite raw desserts.

This raw strawberry sauce recipe will keep in your refrigerator for up to three days. :)

The Rawtarian's Thoughts

I love throwing fresh fruit on top of almost all the raw dessert recipes that I make. However, I was having a guest over for dessert and I wanted extra "wow" factor so I decided to whip up a raw strawberry sauce recipe instead.

The addition of the chia seeds helps to thicken the strawberry sauce. You can make it without the chia seeds, but the sauce will be a bit runnier.

Do not add the sauce to your recipe until it is ready to be served because you don't want your dessert to get soggy.

Of course, if you know how to make raw pancakes you can use this raw strawberry sauce as a fruity syrup, too.

Also, you can substitute other berries instead of the strawberries in this raw strawberry sauce recipe. (However, do not use raspberries as the raspberry seeds will become very gritty and the sauce will taste good, but it will taste like there are little grains of sand throughout the sauce.)

Keep 'em coming Laura-Jane! I look forward to Mondays now and wonder what fun new recipe I can try out! (Although I was out of town last week, so I need to catch up with the whipped cream too :-D)

Hi Court! Thanks for your motivation, I am trying hard to stick to the schedule. But I am a total procrastinator so forgive me if I slip up now and then :) So far so good though!

I can absolutely see how this would work. Chia seed has a great texture-making ability, and the dates would keep the chia seeds from seeming too crunchy. I'll definitely make this when I'm done with my vegetable juice feast. :D

Wow, veg juice feast. Is it almost over??

I realised that it was Tuesday morning so excitedly checked to see if there was a new recipe! I then went straight to the freezer to get out the strawberries and have just made this recipe. I found it very difficult to get it from the blender to the fridge without eating it all! I am so looking forward to coming back in a few hours to properly sample it! I really love the simplicity of most of your recipes. Thank you! I will let you know if the finished product is a hit or not!

Thanks for the motivation re: mondays, too. I am trying to stick to a schedule. :)

This looks very pretty and yummy. I love summer berries.

Thank you.

Hi there, just wondering if you could use linseeds instead of chia? Thanks :)

The Rawtarian's picture

Never heard of them! They might work IF they are good at absorbing water - probably not though

looks so yummy. do i need to grind the chia seeds first or soak them? thanks!
