Two tablespoons of sesame seeds
1 teaspoon honey
Directions
1. In a clean coffee grinder that you use for grinding raw nuts and seeds, grind the seeds until they look like flour. Don't overgrind them or they'll be hard to get out of the coffee/nut grinder because they'll get pasty.
2. Place the ground sesame seeds in a tiny bowl. Add the agave nectar and mix with a spoon until the recipe clings together. Your goal is to make it look like cookie dough.
3. Eat with a spoon, roll into balls, or form into a little bar. Adjust measurements to taste.
The Rawtarian's Thoughts
As you can tell by now, I just love simple recipes with very few ingredients. You can't get much simpler than this raw, sesame seed dessert recipe for halvah.
It's right up there with my raw chocolate shake recipe for easy, fast raw desserts.
To give you some background, halvah is a dense, sweet confection common in the Middle East. Halvah is usually crumbly and made from sesame seeds or other nuts.
This recipe requires a coffee grinder or nut grinder! Do not attempt unless you've got one! You should have a coffee grinder that is dedicated to seeds/nuts only. They're inexpensive. Find one at your local hardware or big box store for $20.
This is a very small portion, suitable for a midnight snack for one person, although you can't really make it at midnight 'cause that coffee grinder will wake the whole household!
Obviously, if you want to make a big batch as pictured in the photo, just grind up LOTS of sesame seeds and then add enough agave to replicate the texture from your tiny batch.
Delicious tip: After grinding but before adding the agave, add some other interesting ingredients, like a pinch of poppyseeds or some lemon peel or cinnamon. Make a simple batch first and then get creative with this sesame seed halvah recipe! The pictured halvah has pistachio nuts added in. Yummy!

That Halva.... is the recipe I've been longing for ever since I tasted non-raw Halva a few years ago...! And now I have motivation to get the ONE appliance missing from my nearly-perfect Raw Kitchen... a coffee grinder. :D

It's totally worth it. Mine only cost about $20 and it's still working great for me. :)

You could certainly try it, although I haven't. I think the problem is that the speed of the blender will just send the seeds flying all over the place inside the blender instead of actually grinding them.
If you try it let us know how it goes.

HI there, just tried this as I am on a restricted diet for the moment and can only have a little honey (no dried fruit). Great idea for a quick little something sweet! I added coconut cream for some more creaminess and energy boost.

Hey! Do you use raw honey? which do you recommend, agave or honey?

I use both depending on the recipe, because honey does not dehydrate so I use agave nectar in recipes that have to be dehydrated and honey in other recipes because it's less processed.
FYI: raw honey is not vegan. However, I live in a rural area and I get it from my neighbours so I am okay about eating it rather than using agave nectar, which is highly processed and come from thousands of miles away from my house.
In this recipe I think honey is best

I'm a bit confused, 2 tablespoons made that much halvah in the pics? 2 tablespoons?

Nope, that one is just a generic pic of halvah. It's such a tiny recipe - just go ahead and make it! It just makes a tiny sweet snack :)

I made this in my normal food processor and it turned out brilliantly. I used honey then rolled them into balls and put them in mini paper muffin cups. Yummo! Thanks a lot for the recipe

I know coffee beans are not raw, but coffee is a traditional variation of basic halva in the middle east. I'm mentioning this since I don't have a coffee grinder dedicated to nuts, and making a batch of halva in my coffee-coffee-grinder cleaned out the coffee oils enough to grind some other seeds I needed. And then I had coffee halva too.

the little bullet blenders are great for this; they even have a flat blade just for seeds. they are fairly cheap and can be had on ebay for next to nothing all the time. And they can be used for lots of other things
