Chronic ear infections/aches

I’m not sure what to do!

A few months ago I got two pretty bad ear infections so finally gave in and went to a doctor. Of course, being that they know e v e r y t h i n g, they prescribed antibiotics and something like sudafed to dry out the sinuses. After mullein garlic oil didn’t work and being completely raw and taking probiotics semi-regularly, I wasn’t sure what to do. I think the antibiotics killed something off but now it’s all back. My ears are sore and warm on the inside and it’s pretty uncomfortable, almost like someone punched me in each ear.

I’m really getting annoyed and a bit nervous about this. What would be causing this? Are there things I should stay away from, make sure to eat, or use in my ears or something to help?

Any advice appreciated!!! Thanks so much in advance. :)

i honestly wouldn’t leave this up to raw food. if you’re not comfortable with seeing a regular doctor, i would really suggest you go see a certified naturopath as soon as you can. chronic infections should not be written off and treated like nothing. it probably is nothing, but it could be a more serious underlying condition.

  • you can put around 10-15 drops of warm (mind you..not hot!) sesame oil (preferably) in each ear for temporary relief. It helps in softening of wax and relieves you from pain.

And get an appointment with a doc (natural or allopathic) ASAP.

  • I second the get an appointment with the Doctor advice. Antibiotics usually will clear your infection up quickly…I know it sucks but this is one area of medicine that makes sense when there is an acute infection present. They may also prescribe ear drops which can help.

Warmed olive oil will work just like the sesame oil and may be easier to keep on hand. Tea tree oil has antibiotic effects as well as goldenseal. If you are new to raw, maybe your body is expelling old stuff and will be better soon. If not, then I would recommend a holistic ear nose & throat specialists. In the mean time use very warm compresses or a heating pad to increase circulation and relieve the pain. Eat probiltics to restore your flora that was killed by the antibiotics. Good Luck!

Did you doctor check for excess wax? Can you still hear normally? DO NOT put anything in your ears such as q-tips.

In my late twenties, I had a few very bad ear infections (never had ear problems before that) – they were all due to wax buildup and the wax blocked up my ear so much (and I waited too long to get it taken care off) that my ear swelled up and closed up. Needless to say, they couldn’t get the wax out until they got the swelling down. They gave me some drops (they might have been antibiotics I don’t remember – but no pills though) and than my GP flushed the wax out with water. All of this damaged my hearing now I wear hearing aids.

Not trying to scare you but if you can – make sure you go to an ENT or audiologist – they have a special tool to remove the wax (if it is wax). A General doctor won’t really know the best way to treat this. I really wish I had know this when I had my ear problems.

Keep in mind that wax can be a form of detox – if you have a lot of wax it could be diet related. When I had my wax problem I was eating alot of dairy. When I went vegan I had no problems – of course the damage is done and now it is too late.

Also, I would be careful about getting any water in your ears until the problem clears up – keep them as dry as you can (get some ear plugs for showers).
