going on antibiotics...

Hello. This is my first time posting. I was hoping someone could help me out with this.

I have to start a 7 day antibiotic regimen for a pesky but not serious lady infection. I've heard that antibiotics flush both anti and pro biotics out of one's system. Are there certain foods/supplements I should be taking to replenish my probiotics, and is this something I should be doing while taking the antibiotics or after?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Acidophilus is the classic antibiotic replenisher, but any probiotic supplement will help you out, as would live kim chi, kombucha, or cultured nut/seed cheeses. Staggering the probiotic with the antibiotic is a good idea, since the antibiotic would kill the probiotic.

Also, since taking antibiotics can lead to yeast/fungus overgrowth, you might want to consider avoiding sweet foods during the course of the antibiotic--though some people will tell you that fat is the problem with yeast overgrowth. I don't believe them, personally, but you might.
