Recipe Directions

  • 1. Place pecans alone in your food processor and process until the pecans become small and crumbly.
  • 2. Add dates to the raw brownie recipe and process again until the mixture sticks together and the dates are well processed.
  • 3. Add the remaining ingredients to this raw brownie recipe and process again until the mixture turns a lovely dark chocolatey brown. Stop processing before it gets too buttery. (There should still be air between the small bits so that you will be able to press them down into your brownie pan.)
  • 4. Dump the mixture into a brownie dish or small cake pan and press down firmly using your clean hands.
  • 5. Refrigerate this raw brownie recipe for a couple of hours. You do not have to refrigerate it, but it is much easier to slice when chilled. By the way, this is actually a raw brownie recipe that keeps its shape! So it can be good for serving to non-raw fooders because the presentation of this raw brownie recipe is good when chilled.
  • 6. Store this raw brownie recipe in the refrigerator if it lasts that long!
  • PS: For an even more delightful brownie, serve it with this easy, instant raw chocolate icing.

The Rawtarian's Thoughts

By The Rawtarian

Raw brownie recipe -- finally, a raw brownie recipe that tastes like REAL BROWNIES!

I am quite surprised and amazed at how the texture of this raw brownie recipe resembles real brownies--especially after this raw brownie recipe is refrigerated for about an hour or even longer.

My husband thinks this raw brownie recipe needs chocolate icing, but I disagree. I think it's perfect on its own! (But it is true, everything is better with raw chocolate icing on it.)

You can also use this raw brownie recipe as a pie crust or as very chocolately raw truffles.

Good luck trying to keep this raw brownie recipe around for longer than 24 hours. This vegan recipe would be good for about eight small servings. Feel free to double the recipe if you want more or if you want to make it last longer. (I usually double it.)

Advanced optional tip: Throw 1 tablespoon cacao nibs into the mixture after processing and before squishing into pan for fun crunchy texture!

ALOT! More than box mix brownies. You can go to CalorieKing and put in all the ingredients to get the exact count. I forget what it was but I wish I had done it prior to making them because I would have never eaten them.

I just started a raw diet (lifestyle, really) and these are FANTASTIC! I made one batch, tasted them, and because it was SO quick and easy, I made a second batch right away. My two little boys LOVE them as well! Thanks so much!

I substituted dates for prunes, but it wasn't particularly good... however, i tried again and omitted it altogether ... was delicious! Also did the same version with added banana chips and another tablespoon of agave .... THE BEST YET!

Wow! This one's a keeper. I might try to substitute cacao powder to cacao nibs. CHOFFY offers an all natural organic good for your health cacao nibs.

Oops, these are deliciously sticky. They're chilling in the fridge at the moment but the freshly processed brownie mix tastes so nice already, the remind me a bit of a NAKD bar. Yum!

I was wondering, could I use prunes instead of dates?

These were absolutely divine! I subbed almonds for the pecans and they were still perfect. It took me 10 minutes to prepare them (8 spent removing the pits from the dates) and all that I had for dishes were the 3 pieces from the food processor a measuring cup and a tablespoon. I love raw "baking"!

These look delicious and I can't wait to try them! I'm not a fan of coconut though. Would leaving it out make a difference?

Thanks!

Wow! I am really impressed. I've come across many raw food websites but yours is the least daunting! I usually have all the ingredients in stock and if I don't, they aren't so exotic that I can't find them at my local market. Also the recipes are pretty easy and not too complicated, in my opinion. I'm always excited when I have the tools/supplies on hand to make recipes that look divine; this brownie recipe, included.

I appreciate that your site is well organised and attractive, which is another reason I keep coming back!

This is the one raw and/or vegan recipe that my husband will actually eat (I mean DEVOUR). Tonight I added fresh cherries from the local farmers market. It was an amazing addition!

P.S. I love ALL of your recipes - thank you for sharing.

I made these today! I used macadamias instead of pecans and used organic rice puffs replacing the coconut because I couldn't get a fresh organic coconut.. They were very delicious!! My husband was pleasantly surprised :)

I made these last night as my very first attempt at raw "baking!" They're wonderful! They turned out more the texture of fudge than brownies, but I think I may have simply processed them a little too long.

My husband's comment was, "Well. I wouldn't call them brownies, but they're good." ;)

I was delighted by how complex the flavor is. Real brownies, and most similar sweet desserts, are sort of... monotone in comparison. I'm definitely inspired to keep exploring raw foods.

Oh. My. Gosh. These brownies are, hands down, completely and absolutely THE BEST raw brownies ever made! I do not know how I am going to keep my hands off the whole pan. I only now just got done with the recipe and they are awaiting my attack in the fridge. Thank you SO much for sharing this beautiful recipe!

I was craving something sweet today and I came across this recipe. Delicious! I made a few changes though, I used mixed nuts and I used half dates and half prunes; and since I don't have a high speed blender and mine 'struggled' to blend all of those ingredients I added a few tablespoon of coffee left over from breakfast! Too yummy! I cannot put the spoon down, help!

Oh my goodness, these are just divine! I spread them out to make a thinner layer so I had thin, bite size little squares to snack on during the day. Great recipe, thank you!

I came across your podcast and then website the other day, and am loving all the information! I went raw vegan for a couple months last summer, but bounce around between meal plans from day to day and have been off track for awhile. I just made these brownies with the icing and HOLY $*^&!!!! SO DELICIOUS!! They would definitely hold their own next to any dessert out there, raw or not!!
