Recipe Directions

  • 1. Add all ingredients into your blender. Blend until creamy and smooth.
  • 2. Pour mixture into a pie pan. Smooth out with the back of a spoon.
  • 3. Cover and throw in freezer. Ideally should be frozen overnight to firm up so that it can be sliced perfectly.
  • 4. This raw chocolate cream pie recipe should always be kept in the freezer. (It'll get soggy if in the fridge.)

The Rawtarian's Thoughts

By The Rawtarian

This is a crustless pie, which means it's that much quicker to whip up since there is only one step!

If you don't do honey you can do agave nectar or maple syrup instead of the honey. Use the same measurements.

This recipe does include bananas for both sweetness and creaminess, so it does have a slight banana taste, but it's not over-powering, especially if you use bananas that are at the peak of perfection.

Would macadamia nuts work in this recipe in place of cashews?

Hi Rachael - yes, macadamia nuts are one of the only nuts that you can use instead of cashews (they are both super creamy) (pine nuts could work too, but they are SOOOOO expensive)

Oh ok, I thought mine is not good for this one. Good to know it doesn't matter much :D

For some recipes (really nutty recipes, particularly) it does matter, but this recipe is pretty forgiving.

If you like, you can soak the cashews in warm water (then rinse clean and pat dry) -- this will help soften the cashews to make them easier to blend. Even soaking for 15 minutes will help soften them and make them easier to blend, if your blender is crappy.

Thanks, good to know! ^_^
What about using carob powder instead of raw cacao in every chocolate recipe? I was told not to use it because of the caffeine..

Yep, if you do the 1 = 1 1/2 substitution in every recipe, you will be just fine!

Thank you so much! Btw, I tried the chocolate fudge for beginners, and it's amazing!! I added 2 bananas, so it's a chocolate-banana fudge ^_^

Is there any way to make this a little more low carb?
Thanks!

Re: honey, you can use a low glycemic sweetener, like stevia if you can do stevia.

Re: replacing banana, it's used for both sweetness and creaminess - so some nice avocado would do instead if you can eat avocados.

Hope this helps, Lauren!

Sounds delicious! Does the cacao powder have caffeine? I love chocolate but don't handle the caffeine very well.

Yes, I believe there is a small amount of naturally occurring caffeine in cacao powder

Hi Laura-Jane,
Is the coconut oil liquid or solid? And if solid do you melt it?
Sorry - I am sure somewhere you have answered this question a thousand times.
Thank You,

Hi RawGemGypsy!

Great question - in this recipe, either solid or liquid is fine. Because it's going to get blended well in the blender and warmed, even if it is solid it should warm up and liquify during the process! (Ideally, liquid is best, but I wouldn't bother melting it first since it should melt when blended.)

Thank you so much, Laura-Jane. Making this for my husband for father's Day. A good day to get the ball rolling for him to remember just how good raw can be. Raw Green Blessings.
