Recipe Directions

  • 1. Blend!
  • 2. Adjust measurements to suit your taste. I like to go easy on the cocoa powder and then add more if necessary.
  • 3. Enjoy this raw chocolate shake recipe!

The Rawtarian's Thoughts

By The Rawtarian

Raw chocolate shake recipes have saved the day once again. Over the past few days I've had some sweet-tooth cravings, I'm not afraid to admit it. In order to quell the sweet tooth, I've been making more desserts than normal.

The following raw chocolate shake recipe is so simple but so divine. Served chilled in a tall cold glass, it's a true treat. I am drinking this shake as I type this!

This recipe is perfect for one person.

Exploit bees?!?! LOLOLLLLL! They make honey whether we use it or not, and this is using their natural resources, a product they already make. Beekeeping is GOOD for hive health and colony development! Comments like this are why so many people roll their eyes when they hear "I'm a vegan." Do you live in Portland, too?

To the author of this recipe, thank you for sharing such wonderful recipes. I am currently loving on them. I would like to note that this is listed in the "nut-free" section, but it's not nut-free. :) Thanks again for your thoughtful sharing.

Beekeeping is NOT GOOD for hive health.... Letting them do what they would naturally do is good for hive health. Why do you think we're constantly hearing on the news about the bees dying off? Because we're not eating enough honey? Do you really think that the solution to the bees dying off is for humans to eat more bee vomit? Yes, bees make honey either way, but they don't make it for us, they make it because they need it to feed their young. Beekeepers take that honey, and replace it with High Fructose Corn Syrup. Do you really think that bees will survive as well on High Fructose Corn Syrup as they would on the honey that they make for themselves.

Sorry if you need to roll your eyes when we choose not to eat the vomit of others. I continually forget how EXTREME it is for us to not eat vomit on a daily basis.

Colonizing bees for making honey and sell and make profit from them is exploiting bees.No matter how they small they are or no matter they naturally make it or not.Cows making milk naturally too but collecting them for making milk and sell them to people is exploiting them.Sorry if it's too complicated for you.I was also going to ask if she uses bee honey or other kind? And i'm also loving the recipes thank you.

So I take it you are not a vegan cause based on what you said then the dairy farmer has all the right to take a mothers milk cause "They make...milk... whether we use it or not, and this is using their natural resources, a product they already make. dairy farming is GOOD for ...cows...health and...herd... development!"
See what I did there.
It makes no difference if it's something they make anyway. The point is that they did not make it for US. They make it for themselves and what right do we have stealing it!
It's a fair request, to not misrepresent ones self. She could have put honey or vegan alternative in the recipe.

You should be some research of what veganism means. If she (Rawtarian) use the term "vegan" in her blog, she can't use/promote honey. Period.

Honey is not vegan (it's the same silly opinion of vegetarians can use/promote fish, fish is not vegetarian). End of discussion.

And "rolling eyes" are not relevant. Really. Who cares.

I have been doing something very similar to this for me and my kids. I do a couple of things different: 1) I use frozen bananas (cut up to minimize the wear on the blender), and I sweeten with a very small amount of stevia. The bananas are actually pretty sweet on their own (we freeze them at maximum ripeness) but the stevia takes the sweetness to the "Ice Cream" threshold.

Hi John, Great tips here -- stevia is a great sweetener - I use it a lot myself

Great recipe! However, I am really trying to stay away from any sweeteners outside the fruit pyramid. therefore, i substituted the honey for one pitted date. it turned out delicious and my two year old loved it! anything healthy my child likes is alright by me. Thanks for the recipe!

Love this shake blended with ice- feels like a treat and fills you up! Sometimes I use coconut water instead of straight water if I need extra electrolytes.

Awesome Rawchelle! I love having the same thing for breakfast every morning. That way, if I am in a rush, I don't have to THINK I just have to EXECUTE. If you know what I mean!

I've been on a raw diet for 17 days now. I really don't know how I found you but, I'm happy I did. For the last couple of days I've tried a few things ( breakfast bowl , green drink today yummie!!!!!! .
Now, as I type and sip. I made the Raw Chocolate Shake.... OMG... GOOD!!!!
I took the suggestions from the other post and added mine... I'm not a cook by far!!!! Believe me I'm not . The few things that I've learned I went to mixing. Because I like creamy .. I used
1/2 of cashew milk ( your receipt )
1/2 cup of ice ( probably more)
1/4 avocado
Then added the rest of your receipt . I really think I can do Raw because of you.
Thank You ,Thank You....
