Recipe Directions

  • 1. Blend all ingredients together in your high speed blender until very smooth and creamy.
  • 2. Chill in the fridge for a couple of hours after blending because it'll firm up nicely that way.
  • 3. Enjoy!

The Rawtarian's Thoughts

By The Rawtarian

This raw fruit dip is total comfort food for me. It's the same texture as cream cheese icing, which I used to love... Creamy and almost tangy, mmm!

Try this raw food fruit dip as a dessert. Serve this dip in a bowl with sliced fruit, such as apples, grapes, orange sections, pineapple, etc. Perfect dessert for SAD people and raw fooders alike.

This raw fruit dip also doubles as a very nice icing for raw cakes.

This fruit dip tastes best if kept chilled in the fridge.

Serve this raw fruit dip for dessert tonight! Goes so well with bananas, pineapple and strawberries! Mmm.

This looks so yummy. I am out of coconut oil at the moment, and want to make some NOW! I do have coconut butter... do you think that would work?

Hi Hareem, you can omit the vanilla (AKA don't use it) and it will still be okay. :)

Hi there, could coconut milk be used instead of coconut oil for this raw fruit dip recipe?

Rachel, I just posted this to The Rawtarian, so watch for her answer if you are interested. Our just try it.

I'm wondering if Rachel could use pure coconut cream instead of coconut oil? I bought some on tropicaltraditions.com. it's delicious and becomes very hard in the refrigerator. You would have more of a coconut taste, though.

Nope, sorry Rachel! Coconut oil is important because it's what helps this recipe firm up in the fridge. (there is no easy substitute for coconut oil)

Hi Judy, this is interesting. I've never used coconut cream, but if it hardens in the same way perhaps you could try it. I can't recommend as I've never used. Have you subbed it for oil much?

I just started raw two weeks ago and am looking for fast and tasty recipes. Next week, we are having our quarterly meeting where I volunteer and it is a tea. I have been wondering what I will take and be able to eat that would be appetizing to others. Found this fruit dip!
How much does this recipe make? Should I double it for the gathering?

Hi Lori, Depends on how many people will be there. But I think this single recipe would do if you are proving for 10-15 people with lots of fresh fruit (chopped) to dip in. Plus, if they happen to run out of dip they can eat fruit on its own.

I don't have any coconut oil, is there a substitution that would work and still be healthy?
Thank you to any suggestions :)

Hi Sarah, No, sorry, there is no substitute for coconut oil in this recipe. (Other oils will not work at all. Coconut oil hardens when frozen and doesn't have a yucky oily taste)

I was just wondering if the cashews are raw and soaked before blending?

Cashews are untoasted/unsalted. If you have a really good blender (BlendTec, Vitamix etc) you do not need to soak. If your blender is crappy you might want to soak to soften the cashews

I'm amazed. I would never have thought cashews would make icing, but I made raw banana bread, and spread this on, and it's wonderful. My kids love it.
