Raw lemonade smoothies are refreshing during the summer. There's something very cooling about that tart, tangy taste.

The color of this raw lemonade smoothie doesn't look very lemony due to the darkness of the dates, but the taste will be lemony-zingy!

I just love lemon-flavoured raw food recipes, like these raw lemon cookies.

Remember that you should always put the softest ingredients, such as bananas, in first. That way they're close to the blender's blade and make it easier to blend.

If you don't have a high-speed blender (such as a VitaMix) I might leave out the celery because celery is kind of stringy if not blended well. Also, if you don't have a high-speed blender make sure your dates are soft. If you have really hard dates, soak them in warmish water for half-an-hour or so.

Tip: If you don't have celery, try adding a handful of fresh parsley instead!

Hi, I'm using this app in NZ and am wondering if there is a winter plan us Southern Hemisphere users can switch the recipes to? A lot of these ingredients are out of season.

Hi goodspear here,

Made the lemonade smoothie and I enjoyed it. It was a mild flavor and easy to drink. I stuck mine in the freezer to make it extra cold cause that how I like them. Anyway I complete this for the course to prepare for raw eating. I'm going to make the

Hi Fatima, How come no bananas? It is integral to this recipe because it provides both sweetness and creaminess. Maybe best to try a different recipe :)

I'm not a banana smoothie person, but this was really really good! I used frozen banana because I like smoothies chill (and I keep loads of frozen bananas for vitamix ice cream). Very happy I tried, it's another keeper!

WOW!!! I just tried this smoothie and it was amazing!!! I did add some spinach to it (it doesn't feel right unless I add some greens!) and I decided to add mint instead of celery. I can't wait to have another one!!!

You can omit the celery and use spinach instead of parsley.

Ok, so I put all the ingredients in my vitamix blender, I pulled up my nose, stuck my tongue out at the vitamix & said to myself, how gross, there's no ways this can taste good, not celery & a whole lemon mixed with banana & dates! Took my first sip & I was mind-blown away!! I even felt so ashamed at my own ignorance and arrogant thoughts that this could be disgusting, I was so wrong & I apologise. I cant wait to have another raw lemonade smoothie, its the best ever & my mouth watered so much after each sip.
