Recipe Directions

  • 1. Place sunflower seeds in the food processor. Process into a fine meal.
  • 2. Add everything else (except the celery) and process until well combined. (You may need to stop processing a few times and scrape the sides of your processor down with a knife.)
  • 3. Transfer processed mixture into a bowl and add your optional chopped celery (for texture). Stir with a spoon. Your raw salmon salad pate is now ready!

The Rawtarian's Thoughts

By The Rawtarian

This practical recipe is super quick to whip up. No soaking or prep is required.

I use sun-dried tomatoes that have been pre-soaked in olive oil. (If you're using dry sun-dried tomatoes then you may want to add 1 tablespoon of olive oil to the recipe.)

This raw mock salmon salad pate is great served on a green salad with a small splash of apple cider vinegar as a dressing.

This recipe can be eaten right away, but it also keeps well in the fridge.

I'm going to try this today (need a couple of things from the store), but I was wondering if these can be shaped into patties and dehydrated into Salmon Burgers???

Aww, hope you're getting back to normal soon, Samadhiji. I hate being sick, it's such a weird reminder of how important health is every day. Doesn't take much to wipe us out.

At first, after making it and tasting the paste, I didn't think it tasted anything like salmon (maybe because I still eat fish). However, when I had it for lunch yesterday I totally got the salmon flavor on top of a salad. I gave it a 4 star rating because it was soooo hard to process (probably because my sun dried tomatos were dry- I did add olive oil though). I'd definitely try it again though.

Yes, the dry sun-dried tomatoes would be troublesome in this recipe for sure. I agree about the taste, it's not quite identical, but it gives the same texture and the color is salmony at any rate :)

If you can soak some tomatoes in oil in advance that'll make it much easier to blend up

Excellent!! Loved it - and so simple - a brilliant recipe as always with The Rawtarian! Just a P.S. - I think there is a typo where it says, "if you are using dry olive oil"... Had me scratching my head for a moment! :)

Come on Judene, live a little. Haven't you ever tried dry olive oil? It's very low fat. In fact, it's so low-fat that it may not exist lol

Thanks for catching that :) Corrected!

Glad you liked it! It's a bit of a strange concoction of ingredients, but it rubbed me the right way and I loved it on my salad so I had to share.

Glad to have you here Judene :)
