Recipe Directions

  • 1. Throw all ingredients (except last 1/2 cup of tomatoes) in a high-speed blender and blend up 'til nice and smooth and well mixed. You can let this raw tomato soup recipe blend in the Vitamix or Blendtec blender for a little extra time so that the heat of the blades and the friction actually warm up this delicious, creamy raw tomato soup recipe.
  • 2. Transfer raw tomato soup to a bowl. Add the remaining 1/2 cup of diced tomatoes and mix gently with a spoon.
  • 3. Garnish the raw tomato soup recipe with sunflower sprouts! Eat immediately.

The Rawtarian's Thoughts

By The Rawtarian

Raw tomato soup recipe - Does that sound tasty to you? For some reason I was really turned off by the idea of raw soups for a long time. For two years, actually! I was turned off of raw soups because I once made a raw vegan beet soup that was very gross and watery!

But I finally gave raw soups another go and was pleasantly--and I mean very pleasantly--surprised by my raw tomato soup recipe!

What I like about this recipe is that it's so easy. I mean, you've got tomatoes and cashews, basically. Can't get much easier than that!

A lot of other raw tomato soups call for avocados, but I like this recipe because I always have cashews on hand in my pantry so I can make it any time--rather than having to make sure I have a perfect avocado on hand.

This raw tomato soup recipe makes a nice big bowl for one person. :)

My Polish grandmother used to make a beautiful tomato-based soup that I loved dearly as a child. This is so reminiscent of the taste - it almost brought tears to my eyes! I just added some dill and avocado on top. Beautiful and easy. Love it.

Raw tomato soup recipe

My friend and I are working to implement raw recipes into our diet, and attempted raw recipes for the first time tonight. We paired this soup with the Avocado Dulse salad also listed on your site. We did make a few adjustments to the recipe due to some comments we read. We prepared this as a doubled recipe and first we added fresh basil (that I grew myself) and we added half of an avocado. For beginners, this recipe was perfect and we both really enjoyed the outcome. Since we are still new to this, we are both missing the hot / cooked aspect of the soup, but I think as we dive more into raw food options, we will adjust. Can't wait to try more of your recipes! Next on our list is the mushroom soup!

So this didn't taste as tomato-y as I was hoping- then again it's not tomato season! But still delish and comforting on a chilly day. Also seems like would taste good over noodles.
Thanks again =)

Can you use sunflower seeds in place of cashews when making recipes with nuts?

Hi Kjones,

My answer is, it depends on the recipe and the nut - more info here :) https://www.therawtarian.com/rfp05-nut-substitutions

I'm wondering if any other nut may be substituted for cashew? Almond maybe?

Just finished licking the bowl and now staring confoundedly at how to get my tongue to the bottom of the vitamix without causing harm. WOW! I recently came off of a 40 day water only fast and have been looking for recipes like this to help me re-enter the food world. I added 1/2 a small avocado and chopped peppers for garnish. My tiny tummy can't take any more, but ohhhhhh am I looking forward to the next cashew based soup!!!! YUMMMMMMY

Hi Tavia,

Do not use almonds - they are too pulpy.

You can use cashews, macadamia nuts or 1/2 an avocado instead - all of these give a nice creaminess

We substitute sunflower seeds if we ran out of cashews. It makes a thicker soup, but not as sweet as with the cashews. We tried it with half cashews and half sunflower seeds, turned out excellent!
Thank you for wonderful recipes.
We have been doing raw for almost three years. I was taking $1000 of meds a month. Now, I do not take any medications.

I will definitely have to try this again during the summer when I can get fresh garden tomatoes. The ones I just used were pretty flavorless, so I ended up using more salt and some agave to give it any flavor.

Argh, I know, grocery store tomatoes.... blarg. I have lots in my house right now, because they look so good! But their flavor... sigh.
