Recipe Directions

  • 1. Shred your apple using a hand shredder. (If making only one or two bowls, I use a mandoline slicer with the shredder attachment. If making this for many people, probably easiest to shred in a food processor.)
  • 2. Place shredded apple in bowl, and top with remaining ingredients.
  • 3. Top with the cashew milk (best) or alternatively use water.
  • 4. Stir vigourously. Within a couple of minutes the chia seeds and shredded coconut will absorb the liquid and you will have a delicious, ready to eat raw breakfast cereal.

The Rawtarian's Thoughts

By The Rawtarian

This recipe is very similar to my raw breakfast cereal recipe; however, there are a couple of key differences - especially the addition of the coconut and the shredding of the apple.

In fact, it is the shredded apple that makes up the recipe - and gives it a stellar texture!

This recipe is for one person.

Newbie here again! Just finished my bowl and I have to say this is way better than any boxed cereal. I loved the flavors and texture especially the crunch! I am not much of a smoothie gal so this is definitely one I will be eating for breakfast or as a dessert! I love cinnamon so I will be adding more of a pinch next time. I have to admit, I was very skeptical but thought every recipe I have tried so far is awesome so I gave it a go. Thanks again. I am inspired and happy I found your sit. I love and look forward to a healthier, happier, and energetic life.

Fast, easy, filling and so yummy. I'm new to eating raw and really enjoying this site. I saw the idea of using dried cranberries (which I like much more than raisins). Going to give it a try in the morning. Thanks for taking the guess work out of trying raw.

I didn't think this would be good, but I tried it anyway. I liked it. I made mine with dried cranberries because I'm not into raisins that much and I don't do nut milks too much since my daughter is allergic to peanuts and nuts (trying to get her to eat better and detox). Anyway, I had banana milk. It was really good. I put too much milk but it was still good. Thanks so much.

Very yummy breakfast and easy to make. For my cashew milk, i use blueberries, cashew, vanilla, a pinch of salt, dates, water and unsweetened cocunut milk and put all in the blender. Then pour over the bowl with all the ingredients for breakfast. It is delicious! Love this app coz it is convenient!

Hi Brett!

Pears or fresh blueberries sound like perfect substitutions to me :)

What is the best type of apple to use? I used a Gala apple & when I shredded it, I got apple sauce. The end result was really good but because of the texture of the apple, it wasn't very filling

Hi Susan, How did you shred it?? Green apples (Granny Smith) tend to work the best, but I just use whichever apple I have in the house at the time :)

I have said it before and will say it again. You are a legend. I have this for breakfast, lunch or dinner. My hubby and children love it. I often times don't want to share it with them. But I do, its amazingly deli-liciuos.
Just purchased the app and should have done it long time ago. It's brilliant, awesome. Well done GIRL.

I just found your website yesterday, and I am so happy that you have many recipes that I don't have to use a dehydrator. This recipe is exactly what I was looking for in a breakfast cereal. I hope you don't mind that I tweaked it a little bit. I added 2 T coconut, 3 T. chia seeds, 3 T. buckwheat groats, 1 T. cinnamon......and coconut/almond milk. Used a red apple b/c that is all I had. Let it soak overnight in refrigerator. This morning stirred in sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds. Had to omit the raisins b/c I can't have too much sugar. Well I was in heaven this morning, so yummy!!! I need something already prepared in the morning before I go to work. Now it looks like I have a few more breakfast meals, and I can even eat it as dessert too! Thank you, I can't wait to try more of your recipes!!! :-)

I finished it all yesterday after work for my snack, and then for my dessert, so had to make a whole new one last night again for this morning. :-)
