Joined April 2, 2007
Hello Raw World!! Im a mother of 4 kids, happily married to my sweetie for 14 years. I’m very new to this whole raw food thing, several months now. I actually found out about eating raw from an episode I saw on the Tyra show featuring Allisa Cohen and weight loss. Thats what got my attention and got me started. I’m about 100pounds overweight and was looking for a way to lose weight when i saw the episode. I’ve always had weight issues, and in the past have tried all kinds of diets, including Slim-Fast, Atkins, and just last summer(‘06) South Beach. I really didnt get anywhere but frustrated with it all. I had just weened my 1 year old from breastfeeding and started on trying to lose weight. So anyway, thats how i found out about raw food, so decided to give it a try. I started in February(‘07) and have been doing it since. My biggest goal is to lose the weight. I do like the fact that this is also healthy for you. I’ve been learning alot as i go, still learning. I admit, running into this site was one of the most exciting things since starting! Kudos to Ray and Kandace!! Love it love it love it! As far as the food goes, im a stay at home mom who cooks every day for my family. I’m Middle Eastern so we do alot of cooking and eating! It has been SO HARD giving up cooked food. I started about 90% raw, but at times would lose it and just binge on cooked food. I now have been at 100% raw for the past 3 weeks(Its mid-May today) and decided to not even so much as have a taste of anything cooked. Its weird to cook and not taste what it tastes like! You know, to taste for salt etc in the food. If i so much as have a taste, i lose it, and get tempted to just eat and eat! My now 2 year old is at home with me all day and it can be challenging sometimes to have to feed him and smell what he’s eating! I really have been practicing ALOT of self control! I think that fasting (1 month out of the year since i was a kid) has played a big role in helping me to not eat certain foods. Generally i wasnt a junk food eater, or a SAD eater, just a good eater! I LOOOOVEE FOOD! :>) Middle Eastern diets do include alot of fruits and veggies and salads and stuff, so that wasn’t so hard to incorporate. I’m still trying to figure this out though, and as of today have lost 20 pounds so far(since February /07). >>>>>Sigh I was hoping to lose more than that by now, so thats kinda frustrating, especially reading alot everywhere about how “you lose so much weight” so easily. Im sticking it to it though. Looking forward to feeling better and looking it too!
