Buckwheat sprouts - do these look OK?

DenisDenis Raw Newbie

Hi everyone!

I've tried sprouting buckwheat for the first time. After the last rinse I have let them sit for about 24 hours, then I sun-dried them for about 4 hours. Is it okay to let them sit for so long (24h) after the last rinse? Many of the sprouts became "purplish", is this okay? They have a neutral/fresh smell and taste nice when eaten raw, so looks good to me, just want to be sure.

This is what they look like (sorry for the image quality):

Thanks in advance!

    Thanks for the answer smile.

So I was about to make a salad with these 2 days after putting them in the fridge, but they developed an alcohol-like smell, so I threw them out. I've read that when stored properly, they can last for weeks. I had them sealed tightly in a ziploc bag and they were dry to the touch. Any ideas what could have caused this? I've tried searching on the internet but haven't found anything relevant.

    Thanks in advance!

Have you tried spraying them in lemon juice? It works for a lot of things, sprouts included.

Haven't thought of that. I was more worried about health concerns, not the smell itself. But thanks for the tip, just finished sprouting chickpeas and kamut, if they develop a similar smell, I will try spraying them.

Lemon helps to preserve foods as well :)
