Bananas in the dehydrator

I got a dehydrator for Christmas and tried making banana chips.  I sliced the chips, dipped them in apple cider vinegar  so that they wouldn't turn brown, and started the dehydrator at 135 degrees.  

I had read that it would take 6-8 hours for them to become chips but after 18 hours I gave up and threw away the banana "chips", which remained squishy inside.

Any idea what might have gone wrong?  I'd love to actually make banana chips but need to figure out why this didn't work.

    Hi George. How thick did you slice them? Going thinner usually helps. I make mine almost paper thin.

    I think about 1/4".  Perhaps I'll try to make them thinner next time.
