Alkaline water - healthy or not?

I actually set aside some money for the last few months to get a machine and have alkaline water on demand. Been on a diet for the past 2 months using some alkaline sticks I got online a while back and I can say that I do feel a bit more, how can I put it, vitalized, I guess. But honestly, I don't know if it's the water that has that effect on me or if it's just a placebo effect I guess cause when I got into the topic, everywhere I looked it was hyped. Do any of you have some input? I'm still inclined toward getting a machine, could use some suggestions for this too if you have any.

I alter between filtered pure and filtered alkaline personally for hydration cause I'm not 100% convinced either that it's as beneficial as some sources claim. Nonetheless, some truth must be to those claims, it is indeed better in terms of hydration apparently cause it gets absorbed easier by the cells, but I wouldn't go as far as to say it lowers blood sugar levels or other "miraculous" attributes. It's a costly diet to upkeep though, especially if you don't have the right means for it. Machines tend to cost a lot, but there are options that are in the order of hundreds of dollars instead of thousands, and if I were you, that's what I would aim for.

Some general lectures on the topic, good and bad, and there are some options for machines here too if you think it helps. Best of luck, I hope it helps. And small tip, just make sure to drink only filtered water, no matter if it's alkaline or from the tap, cause the only actual issue with hydration is ingesting water filled with contaminants.

I drink alkaline water because I live in Carlsbad which has a natural source of alkaline water. 90 cents a gallon, so I fill up my water jugs with it and that's what my wife and I drink at home. It's a very good price. I can't say for sure though that I feel any different from drinking it, but I do like the taste and it goes down easy and feels good to drink!

I think it all depends on the pH value. pH value of water ranging from 7.5 to 9.5 is good for drinking and alkaline water has pH value of 8. So i believe it's not harmful to drink alkaline water.

Drinking natural alkaline water is generally considered safe because it contains natural minerals. However, you should be careful with artificial alkaline water, which probably contains fewer beneficial minerals than you think it can have a high pH, and may contain pollutants.
I use a water softener to solve this problem.
