I have been searching a long time for a real save powerfull blender that is capable of rupturing every cell open from the plant cellulose in the greens, so that our bloodcells can absorb the nutrients. According to Victoria Boutenko’s books the Vitamix is a good buy for this, so I decided to buy it last week.
When it arrived I first cleaned out the container with water and immediately noticed a very unpleasant smell coming out of the container. So I thought hey what is this, I just bought probably the best blender in the world and the container doesn’t smell good, so I started to wonder how is this smell (gas) going to chemically react with the smoothies when I blend it in this container. (I have to mention that I have an incredible good smell, I can smell things that others cannot, but that to a side note)
I studied up a bit on the Vitamix container and quickly discovered that the container is made from Polycarbonate. I was shocked to read that Polycarbonate is a highly TOXIC material that BIG time influences our hormones. Water bottles are quite often also made from Polycarbonate and I know the basic ingredient is Bisphenol A. Toxic material researcher Dr. H. Clark also mentions this in her books, about the severe toxitivity of this material. But the thing is when the Polycarbonate smells, you can be certain that there is Bisphenol A leaking, and thus releases toxins. Smell = Gas and smelling Gas = toxic
When fluids in these kind of Polycarbonated waterbottles where lab tested by independent reseachers it showed high concentrations of Bisphenol-A in the bottled water, as this kind of plastic material leaches this into the water. And this goes really quick, it’s a very reactive material with fluids !! Bisphenol A causes cancer and comletely screws up hormones over a period of time. http://www.debraslist.com/freecontent/fca_toxic…
Also type in Google: Bisphenol A TOXIC Cancer (you will find thousands of links with info about this toxic stuff)
If you read a bit about Bisphenol A you will see that a lot of kids toys and even baby milk bottles have been banned because of this toxic stuff that leaks into the fluids.
So now my one week old Vitamix is about to go out of the door again, maybe I will just place it on the street. I am really dissapointed when I found this out!
I have a friend who is a chemist and I am going to supply him with a smoothie made with the Vitamix and let it test for concentrations of Bisphenol-A, will report back about this.
Btw, I contacted Vitamix about this toxic material. They hide themselves behind a report from the European Safety Comission, telling me that Bisphenol A and Polycarbonate are just fine and very safe. This is also the same commission that says that Aspartam (Nutrasweet), Amalgam fillings and so many other toxic materials are perfectly save. HMMMMMMMM ?
Also what is quite alarming is that Nickel hase been used in the alloy of the Vitamix blade from what I just found out. Nickel is Mega poison ! How much of this get’s or reacts with the the blended food that we make with the Vitamix I asked myself. I mean every acidic food (tomato/apple/citrus etc) reacts to metals, that is 101 chemical science. Except precious metals, like gold silver and Platinum. Ofcourse, that is why they are called “precious”. What I found weird is that Vitamix didnt even use a Stainless steel grade without Nickel for it’s blade, I mean there are 150 grades of Stainless steel on the market. They could have opted for a saver type of Stainless steel in my opinion.
I spoke Vitamix about this and they hide themselfs that blending only takes a very short time and thus there wont be so much Nickel in your blended food. Well, they forgot to mention that the blade makes around 37000 rotations per minute so the food comes into contact with Nickel thousands of times.
So now I am looking out for a realll powerfull NON-toxic blender that like the Vitamix is also capable of rupturing every plant cell from the veggies but this time with a “healthy” blade and a non-toxic container which would be made from glass. I would be more then thankfull for any suggestions.
I also thought about to have my own blender container “tailor made†made from glass and the blade also “tailor made” by a company who is specialized in this, which would both perfectly fit on the Vitamix base. But this probably will become very expensive. There might even excist a non-reactive coating material on the market to coat the Polycarbonate container, but I am still in search for a company who could do this for my Vitamix container.
I would not mind if the warranty would be voided then. I mean it’s all about our health isn’t it, so who cares about warranties.
Help/suggestions would be more then appreciated.
