help my almonds got moldy

suzannelsuzannel Raw Newbie

I was trying to make almond milk for the first time and i doubled the recipe to make a gallon of almond milk. It said to cover the nuts with water and soak the almonds over night. I did... and then some. About a day and a half passes and i finally get to make the milk. Only now its swelled to where the top layer only had water on the bottom of the nuts and there was this weird fuzzy stuff all over the almonds. Now im freaked out. I am assuming its mold??? I am also assuming I'm failing almond milk 101......ugh. #discouraged ...... is this salvageable? Normal? Im really hoping someone tells me this is ok so i can finally make myself some cereal! Otherwise i guess im hitting kroger for some almond breeze.

    What does it smell like?

    Could be sediment...or mold.

If you are soaking nuts for longer than 12 hours you need to change the water once or twice a day. I would toss it and start over. Are you using filtered water?
