your body is probably rebuilding. if i’m not mistaken, 6 months is about the time needed for your body to break down a lot of the crap it’s used to build itself on all those years before. when you go raw, generally you lose loads of weight, which is detoxification, and then your weight goes back up somewhat and stabilizes. how long have you had this voracious appetite?
if it just started all of a sudden, i say give your body what it’s asking for. if you’re concerned with how much you’re taking in, try drinking lots of juices throughout the day, maybe between your meals. juices are concentrated sources of nutrients; drinking them can be sort of like a vitamin supplement. your body will love you for it because those nutrients are easily accessible.
if it’s a big enough concern for you, try to get your hands on a copy of ‘the raw life’ by paul nison. it’s cheesily written, but he really has a lot to say about detoxification and such. a lot of books really gloss over the subject, which serves to irk me a little because it’s so paramount in this lifestyle. also, read some of the forums on this website about it…you’ll find that you’re NOT alone and it’s NOT weird. trust and believe that almost everyone has gone through it…someone knows your struggle.;-)
Thanks! My appetite started “okay” but the past 3.5 months it has grown tremendously. Maybe because I stopped going to my accupuncturist? i dunno. but drinking juices is a great idea. Thanks againn :D :D
Maybe try drinking some green smoothies. Cacao is also an appetite suppressant.
put a spoon of oil in your smoothies to help the sugars release slower and make you feel fuller for longer? Your hunger/need to eat more probably won’t last long, thngs chage so much in the first few years raw. When I get like that I just totally give myself whatever raw food I want, if your body wants it, fill it up!
BTW have you ever done a parasite cleanse? May be a good idea to check it out and see if any little critters are sitting down to dinner with you too ;)
I also find myself pretty hungry fairly regularly but I wouldn't say it's nonstop 24/7 starvation or anything, which is what yours sounds like. I see that Raw_Chocoholic recommended green smoothies, which would probably help. If you don't feel like making your own smoothies you can try adding some supplements that might help you stay fuller. Wheatgrass juice (100% raw!) helps a lot of people stay full longer and dried wheatgrass juice powder (my fave powder is this one http://www.sweetwheat.com/store/wheatgrass-juice/sweet-wheat-large-powder-30-grams/ ) can be mixed right into another type of juice if that's easier. Good luck, let us know how it works out.
