Dr. Hauschka sucks!

Well, at least the eyeliner and lipgloss.

The eyeliner has hydrogenated ingredients, and the lipgloss has cetyl alcohol. :( I was really hoping I could find some quality, non-toxic eyeliner and stuff from Dr. Hauschka. Can you guys recommend a better place to order some eyeliner? Thanks! :D

rachel – You might want to try either Burts Bees or Aubery Organics.

Burts Bees has (or had I don’t see it on their site anymore – they might be discontinued) a makeup line called Wings of Love. I still have an old eyeliner by them – I rarely use it but still do every once and a while. It is pretty close to being natural. It isn’t completley vegan – it has some beeswax. I see some sold here:

    http://lindawade.net/burtsbees/color_cosmetics….

Morrocco Method used to sell a really natural eyeliner and I was always planning on ordering it to try but I never got around to it and I see that they don’t sell it anymore. I think was Morrocoo Method anyhow.

    I also found these: http://www.beautyfromtheearth.com/store/WsDefau…

There are some questionable oxides in them though.

Other than that you might want to check out mineral makeup (check the ingredients)as you can use the minerals can an eyeliner. Or maybe getting some cosmetic clays and making your own by just mixing it up with oils and waxes.

The Burts Bees is pretty nice though and the most natural I have found.

Boy, I never realized how hard it is to have a really natural eyeliner. Even the ones that say natural today have all sorts of gross crap in it.

Even though I am not a makeup person – I am working on my hair products – maybe I should makeup a natural eyeliner too??

  • I think it is still WAY better than well-known commercial barands like Maybelline, Loreal or whatever!

flybaby – Sure it is. But it isn’t better chemical wise than Burts Bees or Aubreys. I haven’t used the products before but I was shocked when I saw the ingredients because people are always saying how natural it is. To me, that isn’t very natural.

I am actually looking into creating my own natural eyeliner and will offering it for sale.

Hey rachel – I use Gabriel cosmetics, here’s their site http://www.gabrielcosmeticsinc.com/index.cfm?fu… They make an eyeliner pencil and eyeshadows – I use the darker eyeshadow colors with a liner brush, but I have used the pencils and they have the ingredients listed on the site – none of the ingredients you mentioned. I buy them at my health food store but they may have a link where you can order them. Their lipgloss is also phenomenal. Hope this helps!

The most natural eyeliner I could find (without resorting to a powder, which is too much trouble for lazy me) is Zuzu Luxe, which I like pretty well. I get it from www.veganstore.com, but you can probably find it elsewhere (including the link amysue gives above).

  • ZuZu and Gabriel are one in the same. A lot of bodycare products have hydrogenated oils in them, they’re not known to have the same effects externally as they do internally. I’m pretty sure Burt’s Bees Wings of Love is gone but they may have brought in something else, they did get bought out by Clorox though. Sorry to sound like Debbie Downer here, just trying to help!

Morning Theft – Is there a list of ingredients somewhere for the Jane Iredale products? I didn’t see any – but what I did see was when you click on the “Information for vegans” click all the way on the bottom of the “eye” page under products was that almost all their eye products contain carmine.

If you don’t know what carmine is – you probably don’t wanna know. (it is ground up insect parts). Ew!

  • What about BAre Escentuals BareMinerals make up? This is what they say: BareMinerals is free of preservatives, talc, oil, fragrance, dyes, and other chemicals that can irritate skin. The 100 percent pure bareMinerals represent the ideal mix of makeup and skincare, offering problem-solving cosmetics that perfect the complexion.

  • I’ve done a lot of research on healthy cosmetics and here are some you might check out(if your vegan- read the labels b/c some of these use beeswax):

    https://bodysoul.mionegroup.com/shop

    http://www.sukicolor.com/

If you want liquid eyeliner: http://www.suncoatproducts.com/index-liquideyel…

Some of the purest makeup you can find is mineral makeup. So if your up for it you can try these brands:

    http://www.everydayminerals.com/

http://www.jlynnecosmetics.com/ (the powders are the only truly pure product)

    http://www.monave.com/

and here is one of the purest traditional eyeliners I found: http://www.gourmetbodytreats.com/pencil%20eyeli…
