I usually buy whole pepper corns and crack or grind them myself. I am still not really sure if they are raw though. i have read that most spiced are not raw. :(
Most commercial spices are not raw (they’re irradiated) and many are sprayed with chemicals. You can buy organic spices from www.frontiercoop.com
I get my organic spices from my local health food store. if they are organic, are they still irradiated?!
i just wanted to say i called penseys spices and they don’t irradiate. irradiation is a very expensive process they said, and useless in their opinion. so that’s good news! i told them way to go. =)
organic is not irradiated. that’s one of the definitions. in fact, most health food stores get their spices from big containers that say “non-irradiated.”
