That’s a great aspiration, but how/why is it going to be “total” if all the other ones are supposed to be THE way to live/eat and they all contradict each other? I am really trying to help, I promise. What worked for me is to pay attention to my body, and to study/read a lot of different books about nutrition. I started with the things I already knew, and when I read an outhor who recommended something I already knew worked for my body, then I decided maybe I needed what that author wrote, so I tried something else that the same author recommended. Some worked, and some didn’t. I read more books to find what I was missing. When I came across something related to the area(s) I had questions about, I pondered the information & tried to find info. from other sources on the same subject. I tried things as they seemed to be a part of the puzzle. It takes longer, yes. I’ve had people tell me I should write a book about nutrition, but the more I study & experience, the more I realize that I would probably just write something like “Take accountability for your own health. Read all you can. Experiment and do what feels the best for you. Expect that to change at any time.” The thing about taking the time and finding out for me, is that if something changes, I know how to find the answers, and I am confident in my choices so I don’t have to give anyone else responsibility (I NEED your help!) or blame (look what your advice did to me!) for my health & my life. Life is good. Enjoy it!

  • Total as in… “Hey! I recommend that you follow some of these ideals if you are looking to gain weight. Try them and see what works best for you!” or “Hey! I recommend that you follow some of these ideals if you have diabetes!” and so on.

It wouldn’t be THE definitive way to live/eat. It would be a source of information tailored to people’s specific needs and what you should know in order to start on your own path to proper health.

In my case… I have some good common knowledge and an understanding of what to avoid (chemical additives, gmo, etc). I need to know learn the basics of health/nutrition as well as the best ideals from successful diets/lifestyles. What to read, what to watch, who to listen to, etc in the area of health and nutrition.

  • worleyhimself2: I just checked out your profile and WOW! Way to go dude! You are living some of my greatest aspirations! You probably coach people all the time, but can you recommend anything to help me get started with lifestyle coaching/health guru/website/business type stuff?

I had my own extreme sports/comedy videos website and advertising business for awhile, but I wasn’t able to support it for very long. I’m just out of high school looking for the proper place to start. You should write a book sometime! Thanks for the links btw.

James – You might want to check out this site and see what Storm has to say.

He speaks specifically about eating lots of fats at one point and shows pictures of him bulkier and later pics when he thinned out his diet. Once you see the pictures, you gotta admit he is totally awesome!

  • Medically speaking, I have 40lbs to go before I hit the lowest range of a healthy weight for my height (5ft8). I have been using raw in my recovery from acute eating disorders and asistance in weight gain. What has helped me: processing most of my foods into liquids. You can get a good 1,000 calories in a shake consiting of ground nuts or seeds, dried fruits, coconut butter or avocado, bananas, etc. – I have digestive problems but have found that high-cal shakes have not caused me much disrupt at all.

Avocados, coconuts, hemp seeds and bananas have become my best friends. Almonds and walnuts are king too. A lot of calorically dense foods have a high fat content so watch out for that if you need to watch your dietary fat intake or want to monitor it. Balance is important. I do eat a lot of healthy fat and my doctor and nutritionist eating disorder team have both validated that right now it’s okay and my body needs it. EveryBODY is different.

I wish you the best of luck. 10lbs should not be a challenge if you up your caloric intake, shakes and smoothies are a great way to do it without having to chomp a bunch of food that will leave you bloated and overly full.
