Are not all Nori sheets raw?

If no, what makes some of them non-raw?

Traditionally, they are toasted. Toasted sheets are green. Raw sheets are very dark, almost black. There is a difference in flavor, and the way they respond to fillings when toasted.

  • When i bought it, it smelled like fish and i was too grossed out to eat it. i’ve had veg sushi before, eating out, and it did not smell like fish. Any thoughts?

reading at work When I go to the seaside and pick up seaweed it smells like fish, but I think all seaweed smells like that! However, I have read (I think it was shazzies site, not sure) that when they collect the nori, litle shrimp get gathered up too, by acident and that these end up in the finished product. Also have have read some where that even the ones by clearspring that say they are raw are not truely raw, but I don’t know why that would be? – or even if it is true. Maybe email clearspring to find out?
