Help me pack a bento / work lunch

Are there any other bento'ers here? I pack them for myself and am drawing a blank on how to start making them raw. I was hoping to see some examples if anyone has them!

I'd also be interested to hear what people are brown bagging. :)

  • I am not a fellow bento-er, but I love the idea of it. I actually was just looking at them online and wanted to order one.

Have you found any interesting raw things to eat?

I love bentos, but I especially LOVE my tiffins from india!

There are lots of really fun bento photos on flickr. search for bento under groups and a bunch will come up that'll give you lots of ideas (mostly cooked of course--but it'll start you thinking about possibilities). My favorite group is just called "bento boxes", it has like 2000+ members!

I bring slaws, marinated or curried veggies + mushrooms, raw chili, salad (I keep the greens in a bag, then mix with everything else right before i eat), raw bread and avocado, or zuchini hummus and veggies... Sometimes I make burgers on the weekend so I have them for the week. Or if I wake up early I'll make raw sushi + dipping sauce and bring that in.

if i'm really in a rush i just grab an apple and an avocado and mix them up as a salad for lunch.

    Hope that helps!

p.s. I just saw that there's a vegan bento goup on flickr too.

I just spent three days browsing flickr's pages on bento lunches! I can't believe I come back and see this thread! Have you guys seen the "Bento Porn" pages there??? There are lots of vegan bento lunches all over the flickr site! (I'm getting ready to buy the first bento of my collection, yay!)
