raw substitute for vegenaise please?

LauroliLauroli Raw Newbie

I really love the taste of vegenaise but don't love the ingredients so much. . . two many unhealthy oils. Can anyone direct me to a good raw substitute?

Thanks :)

  • dafodil- is this a tried and true recipe you have used before? it sounds good in theory, but I wanna make sure before I use up my almonds!

That sounds great, dafodil. I agree with iheartveggies, it's risky to use so many almonds if you haven't tried it before. Maybe substitute with cashews?

    Avocado Mayo: Blend until creamy

    1 cup pine nuts

    1 large avocado

    1 tbs. lemon juice

    2 tbs. apple cider vinegar

    1 tsp. Celtic sea salt

6 medium pitted dates (3 packed tbs.)

    1/2 clove garlic

I found this one on another website, it's been so long ago, I can't remember where. I used it with a mock tuna recipe and it was great.

  • I know that veganaise tastes soooo good, but I have actually started using Hummus as my sandwich spread. It is yummy!

what hummus recipe do you use? that sounds like a nice substitute for sandwiches and wraps.

sounds great. I would probably substitute half the pine nuts for macadamia nuts. I have a sensitivity to pine nuts if I overdo it.

an avocado with apple cider vinegar, a little salt, and a little paprika. :)

  • Our family cannot seem to get enough of Snowdrop's Ranch dressing. Funny thing...we have not used it once yet as a dressing. We have used it as mayo in our veggie wraps and on our version of jalapeno burgers. Can't get enough.

You can find the Ranch Dressing recipe from Snowdrop's blogsite...

Snowdrop even gives directions on how you can make a bacon flavored ranch dressing...personally I have not tried the bacon version yet. Why mess with a good thing. At The Sunny Raw Kitchen you can see a picture of Snowdrop's Ranch Dressing. Click on blog archives for 2007 and pan down mid-way. Posted Sept. 23, 2007

You will also get to see a picture of the "Herbed Almonnaise" that dafodil posted above at The Sunny Raw Kitchen. (under blog archives for 2008) Along with other spreads and dips like the following...Creamy Spinach Spread, Sunflower Dill Dressing, Tomato Dressing, Cheddar Cheese Spread or Dip, Zucchini Hummus, Herbed Avocado Spread, etc..

Note - Some of the recipes can only be found in Carmella's e-book The Best Of RFC" or at Raw Freedom Community.

    Like the Zucchini hummus...

    Yummy!!!

The ranch dressing makes for a great substitute for mayo with a slight, but oh so nice kick/tang.

(but I make it with agave instead of honey, & I only use about 1/2 Tbs)

I did end up using the Cashew Mayonnaise recipe and liked it. I did sprinkle in a tad bit of nutritional yeast.

SimplyRaw~ I tried the ranch last night and it made my salad a blissful experience. I love how tangy it is! Great mayo substitute. And that Sunny Raw blog is so inspirational I might never need to buy an uncook book again!

  • So happy to hear you found it as heavenly as I did.

It is such an "OMG" recipe!!
