Bruising...it's happening more

KoaselinoKoaselino Raw Newbie

Hello all!

I've noticed that I've been bruising more, mostly on my legs, since I became Vegan. I was never a big bruiser. I used to require a pretty big blow to get a bruise, but now the slightest bump seems to give me a nice sized one. I'm now high raw, but I haven't noticed much difference. I am very conscious about getting everything I need through my foods and just in case I also take a multi-vitamin.

Has anyone else experienced this? Have any ideas?

Thanks!

Niki

My understanding is that easy bruising is usually a result of insufficient vitamin c--which is very unlikely on a vegan, high raw diet.

According to the Mayo clinic, bruising more is common as you age, and bruising may actually be increased as your circulation is increased (and hence your blood is thinned): http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/easy-bruising/hq00355

    I don't know that I bruise any more or less than I used to . . .

Deficiencies in C, K, B12, and folic acid can increase bruising (I imagine C, B12, and folic acid are the more common). If you continue to bruise quite a bit, you may want to see a doctor and have some bloodwork run.
