Recipe Directions

  • 1. Throw all ingredients into your high-speed blender and blend, starting very slowly and then increasing the speed. (You may need to stop and start it a bit if your blender is getting hung up. If your blades won't move, turn blender off, create an air pocket down the side with a knife, and then blend again starting on low.) Keep blending until it's very smooth, like a creamy chocolate fudge with no cashew chunks at all.
  • 2. Pour mixture into a pan or dish (for example a brownie pan) and place in freezer.
  • 3. Freeze until it reaches the desired (firm) consistency (8 hours or so!).
  • 4. Store in freezer at all times. To eat, just open the freezer, slice and eat immediately.

The Rawtarian's Thoughts

By The Rawtarian

This simple, crustless raw vegan chocolate cheesecake is easy and delicious. Sweet, creamy and a perfect chocolate fix. A blender is the only equipment that's required.

Of course, you can make a crust if you feel like you need one, but really there is no need! Unless you like to unecessarily complicate things. :)

This raw cheesecake must be frozen for about 8 hours before being eaten. (It will harden when frozen.)

This raw vegan chocolate cheesecake recipe absolutely must be kept in the freezer until eaten. It will melt very quickly if not.

There is no substitute for coconut oil. cashews are really necessary! Cadbury cocoa powder - I guess so! Nutella is not raw, but I guess everything would be more yummy with nutella on it ;)

This is SUPERB! all whizzed up in my nutribullet. It was so delicious I decided to make this for Mother's Day (in the UK tomorrow), so just popped another batch in the freezer. So easy and hubby loves it, thank you :)

I've made this treat for my parents and it was gone in one day. Made it again for my husband and kids, didn't last more than 8 hours after chilled. A big hit. Thank you for providing healthy alternatives to the junk at grocery stores and bakeries.

Hi - love the recipes on this site, but how do you get enough calories (i.e. 2000+) on the raw food diet, especially if you like to run? Much of this food is very low calories and I can't see how to sustain energy for exercise, unless I am going to eat a lot of these desserts, which, although much healthier than SAD desserts, can't be healthy to eat in large doses?

Hi Bibi!, It is definitely doable - think about a huge smoothie in morn, nuts or crackers as snacks, big salad for lunch with some good fats (dressing, avocado, nut pate etc), more snacks, a delicious dinner (veggie burger or soup and raw veggie burger, or even another big salad with nuts etc) and a dessert. Definitely easy to get 2000+ cals on this kind of eating :)

Re: running: protein is a bit harder to get, you CAN definitely get protein from raw foods, but it takes a lot to get enough and adding hempseed hearts and sprouted quinoa will help a lot with this.

Allergic to cashews! What can I substitute? Can I use peanuts? Almonds?

Hi Robin! No, absolutely no to peanuts!
Macadamia nuts are a good substitute. Other than that I don't recommend substituting. I wouldn't use almonds because too pulpy.

Hi,

Can I substitute cocoa powder with carob powder?

thank you.

Hi Tugce,

Yes, but you should use a bit more carob powder, since the flavor of carob is milder. Usually I use 1.5 times carob for each 1 cacao.
