Recipe Directions

  • 1. Throw all raw lemonade smoothie ingredients in blender and blend away until smooth!

The Rawtarian's Thoughts

By The Rawtarian

Raw lemonade smoothies are refreshing during the summer. There's something very cooling about that tart, tangy taste.

The color of this raw lemonade smoothie doesn't look very lemony due to the darkness of the dates, but the taste will be lemony-zingy!

I just love lemon-flavoured raw food recipes, like these raw lemon cookies.

Remember that you should always put the softest ingredients, such as bananas, in first. That way they're close to the blender's blade and make it easier to blend.

If you don't have a high-speed blender (such as a VitaMix) I might leave out the celery because celery is kind of stringy if not blended well. Also, if you don't have a high-speed blender make sure your dates are soft. If you have really hard dates, soak them in warmish water for half-an-hour or so.

Tip: If you don't have celery, try adding a handful of fresh parsley instead!

Enjoy!

Hi Shannon... no clear and easy substitution for bananas. Instead, I would simply try a different smoothie recipe :)

Holy moly, that's unbelievably good! We added 1/3 C pecans and used a half frozen banana. Wow! Thanks so much for the inspiration!

My pleasure! Your additions sound yummy. I never would have thought to add pecans!! Didn't it get a bit too chunky?

Not chunky. Just ran the blender until it all smoothed out. It's become a favorite school morning breakfast!

I made this one today and again, my kids loved it and so did the hubby. He is a lemonade connoisseur ;). He said this is the perfect combination of tart and sweet and I agree. I made a double batch and there was quickly none left. Easy to make but I need to start keeping dates on hand and can't recall any of my local stores carrying them and so many recipes call for them. Also, I am diabetic and have just learned how good they can be for glucose levels which means I can eat the desserts and not worry so much.

Sooo glad your fam loved it and that you can eat it even though diabetic. :)

I haven't had one of these lemonade smoothies in a while. You're making me want one. I love the tart/sweet/tangy taste, too.

I love lemon and found this site by accident. I love the Raw Lemonade Smoothie. Didn't change anything. It is wonderful in the morning with the hot weather. More filling that I would have thought. This is a keeper.
