  • I’ve been looking into it tonight and the MC sounds like something I’d like to do. I can get the book from my local library and the cayenne, lemons, and maple syrup at Trader Joe’s where I work. The only thing I’m concerned about is the laxative tea…

  • tatiana-what cleanse did you do that worked so well, and where can I get more info on it?

  • Thanks for the info KathyKath! I am not interested in it to lose weight at all! I am 5’2” and weigh 120 pounds. I could stand to lose 5 more pounds or so, but I’m almost concerned about losing too much weight! Does the diet actually consist of lemon…

  • Just out of curiosity I juiced my lemons with the peels on last time and made lemonade. It was amazing! It tasted like the lemonade I remember getting from the stands at the fairground when I was a kid! I’ve never done it with oranges though. (And I…

  • tatiana- I think I’ve discovered some truly raw cashews! I got them from Trader Joe’s and they actually sprouted. I only let them soak for about 2 hours too!

  • Annabelle77-What do you mean by breastfeeding acting like birth control? I might just be ignorant on this topic, but I’ve known women to get pregnant while breastfeeding. One woman I used to work with was breastfeeding both of her children when she …
  • OOOOOHHHH!!!!! YOU’VE SEEN KING CORN?!!! That is awesome! I am from Iowa (about 30 mins from where it was filmed!) It is an amazing documentary!
  • I am in Washington as well! I live in Seattle, so I don’t think we’re too far from each other!

  • I’m a little late jumping on this thread but I know why cheese is addictive like beany said. It was mentioned in Skinny Bitch that mammals’ milk contains small amounts of opiates (similar to morophine) to keep the calf/child “addicted” until they ar…
  • iheartveggies-I think you might be right about the food combining. Like I said, I’m not 100% raw, but I’m trying to up it to about 80% really soon! I’ve been at about 60-75%, but I really “fell off the wagon” the last 2 days or so. I just got a job …

  • Thanks waterbaby! You’re right, I have increased my banana intake a lot. I didn’t really realize it, but I eat 1-3 per day and before raw foods, I only ate that many in a week. It would be a good idea for me to have more smoothies (especially green …

  • It is just a way of moving the topic up so it becomes recent again and people can see it. It just seems like many of the other topics (which started off as civilized, well-intentioned conversations) have been taken over by people getting angry at ea…

  • Bump. It makes me sad that this topic was pushed down so quickly because people are fighting and getting off topic on other threads. :(

  • I just got some organic raw almonds imported from Spain from Trader Joe’s. Hopefully since they’re not California grown, they’ll be truly raw and organic! I’ll start soaking tonight to see if they sprout.
  • Babycat-How did you get a doctor to do surgery when you were 21?!! I’m 20 and NEVER want children of my own, but I didn’t think any doctor would do it for someone so young. I’m jealous!
  • Caleb-When you blend the nuts and water, it will create a white milky substance, but there will still be lots of small pieces of nuts in it, so that’s why you have to strain it. I don’t like to use cheesecloth because the holes are too big and won’t…

  • Dodo-good idea on using them for sprouting jars. I never thought of that. I just poked holes in the lids of my jars. It works really well, but the downside now is that I can’t store anything in them when they’re not in use for sprouting! Thanks stra…

  • I don’t think rice milk is raw. You can make your own nut milks though. Just soak and/or sprout your nuts or seeds. (almond, cashew, pecan, hemp, it is up to you!) Then rinse well and blend them in the blender with filtered water. (1 part nuts to 2 …

  • I just got a brush and started dry brushing yesterday. It feels wonderful! I’ve been doing it twice a day. Is that ok?
in Dry Brushing? Comment by Quiora
  • I actually work at Trader Joe’s and checked our raw almonds today. The non organic raw ones are from California, so I probably won’t get them anymore. The organic ones are imported from Spain, though, so I might try those next time!
  • What is dry brushing?

  • Well we won’t be newbies forever. I would rather spend $200+ on a dehydrator that I can use for years and years instead of getting something simple “for newbies” that will need to be replaced in a couple years.
  • Thanks queenfluff. You and I were writing at the same time, so you answered some of my questions already!
  • What are some of your suggestions for good dehydrators? I am looking into getting an Excalibur. Is this a good one?
  • I’m glad you pointed this out! That is the exact same one I had, but I left it with my roommate halfway across the country when I moved. I was just about to ask if he could send it to me, but now I will probably buy a new one instead. It did always …
  • I am vegan, so I don’t believe in killing animals either. But I think when they are threatening me or my food supply and I can kill them with my bare hands, I have a right to. I do use (poison free and odorless, made with only mineral oil) fly paper…

  • I realize this probably isn’t a ton of help either, I’ll let you know if I think of anything else! I’m new to being raw and I live in a tiny studio apartment with a kitchen smaller than a closet, so I’m always looking for simple things to make too.

  • If you can at least get a food processor, that would help a ton! I figured out how to make “Lara Bars” using just a food processor, and those would be easy, quick, and fairly healthy. I’m posting the recipe now if you’re interested. You could also j…
