  • Ketrin, doesn't look like there are any stores in Texas that sell Dr. Cow (http://www.dr-cow.com/where-to-buy/) That's disappointing : ( If anyone knows how to make aged cheese, please share! :D
  • Ketrin, I buy Dr. Cow cheese as a treat because it's so delicious! I'm pretty sure the ingredients are simply cashews, salt and acidophilus, aged for a number of weeks. I want to learn how to make it because it's very expensive, but I can't resist i…
  • I just decided to try 80:10:10 starting yesterday. I watched some Doug Graham talks and it got me pretty excited. So far things are going well. Even after just one day of laying off the nuts/seeds that I so often overeat, my body feels calm and my c…
  • Passion fruit, pineapple, seasoned sugar snap peas, an honey crisp apples!
  • I find that over night is usually too long. This might be a long shot, but do you alkalize your water? I notice a huge difference in the time it takes to soak nuts depending on the pH of the water (higher pH soaks faster.) Many people dehydrate thei…

  • Today I was on line at the grocery store talking to a fellow raw vegan and she told me that if you have a gas stove, you can leave it off, but if the pilot is still on and you leave your food near the bottom, it's a fine dehydration method. I haven'…
  • Best bet is to call the company and ask them how their nuts are processed.
  • As I understand it, freezing is fine for preserving things, but it does slow down much of the enzyme activity. Better than wasting food though, so I say go for it if you need to.

  • Dates are a good substitute for honey. So is yacon in certain recipes, but that is more difficult to come by. As far as "fortified" soy milk goes, I would encourage you to stay away from that. The isolated vitamins in those types of beverages are im…

  • Yeah, that's unfortunate. I would be happy to pay more for food that was actually raw, but I guess the majority would just be turned off by the price hike since they're used to their 99 cent cheeseburgers. It's just crazy that they don't even limit …
  • Just a heads up, the rice and quinoa are not the only things at Caf
  • Personally I think Michael Pollan is way too casual about meat and dairy. Humans are frugivores, and anyone who has interest in a natural diet will eventually come to this conclusion. "Just eating" is fine as long as you eat human food. Unfortunatel…
  • Hm. Interesting. Didn't know they could differ so much. Perhaps it depends on the starting pH of the body? Obviously sweet fruits are not bad to consume. They're precisely what the body needs the most!
  • I have a water ionizer (Jupiter Orion) along with an excellent activated alumina filter. I love it. When you consider how much of your body is made up of water, and how much the intentions and environment surrounding the water impacts it's structure…

  • I know exactly how you feel! I moved to San Francisco thinking the people and the atmosphere would be a wonderfully positive change of base from the suburbs, but I have just felt so much different here. Not only do I feel more affected by the negati…
  • Hemp seeds are the best food for protein. They go well with nearly everything. You can get by just fine without either of those appliances (I do.) Consider the absence of a dehydrator in your kitchen a gift : ). You should ideally be eating hydratin…
  • I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned parasites yet! I don't mean to alarm you if you weren't aware of this, but animal flesh (especially raw or lightly cooked) is loaded with microscopic parasites and their eggs. Consuming more parasites is quite…
  • I've only met them at the obvious places, like raw vegan restaurants and grocery stores that carry that sort of thing (one of very few good things about San Francisco, in my opinion.) Never somewhere unlikely, and almost never less than 10 years old…
  • Green smoothies with tamarind seeds blended in. Tamarind seeds are effective at removing fluoride from the body, especially the pineal gland. Always makes me feel more clear minded after. Oranges Anything with blue green algae in it. : )
  • Turmeric is a great natural anti-inflammatory. I've been dissolving turmeric powder in my water for about a week now to manage my acne and it has improved significantly. Much safer than aspirin, but a similar concept. Make sure it's non-irradiated!

  • On other message boards I go to, we do 'surveys' to get to know everyone with simple fun and some random questions - so I thought I would do it here, mix some normal questions with some random fun ones for you all the answer. This is especially good…
  • Both pjsrawcuisine.com and rawvolution.com have wonderful services that deliver pre-made raw meals weekly. I use both of them occasionally, and they're a great convenience. As you become more familiar with making your own raw food you will no longer…

  • I was just thinking about this yesterday while i was eating a raw veggie burger with red onions on it. I thought to myself "If I wouldn't want to take a bite out of an onion by itself, by what natural means can I justify eating it along with other f…
  • Rawaholic, I do the exact same thing, minus the apricots. And it's delicious. :D
  • I don't quite remember where I got them (somewhere online, either rawguru or realrawfoods, maybe?) but I do have whole hemp seeds in the US and I have sprouted them. Bought them last year with no issues. Awesome food!
  • My vitamix (dry container specifically) always works fine to replace a food processor in recipes. I've never needed one.
  • What about raw yacon syrup as an agave replacement? Or does this have the same alleged problems?
