  • There is a new one I have seen at the health food store – Coco Nectar vinegar. It says it is unheated and it is made from the coconut tree, I think. I tried some last summer; it was very strong & had a unique flavor.

  • jfergus, where did you get your information? I’m not promoting the MC, but I have always heard that lemons are very cleansing, and cayenne pepper is good for the heart and circulation, among other things.
  • Yeah, maple syrup does dry out; I’m just not using it now that I’m trying to eat all raw – good to know it worked with the coconut oil in it, though.

  • rawclaire – thanks! I just thought of adding flaxseed after my last post. Also, I couldn’t find a graham cracker recipe, just a graham cracker crust. I think I’ll try my recipe again & just add a little ground flax to stick it together before I …

  • rawclaire – also, I tried to make the graham crackers (I soaked almonds & Brazil nuts & blended them with a little water & agave & then put them in the dehydrator). They are just falling apart and not like crackers at all. I thought …

  • Yeah, rawclaire, do you have that website yet for the lucuma powder? My health food store hadn’t heard of it but said they will try to order it in for me (if the company sells it wholesale).

  • rawclaire – oops! I guess I was used to seeing you use cacao butter in your chocolate recipes & I didn’t read carefully. Thanks – please do post the website about the lucuma powder. I’m wanting to go camping now, & drooling over raw smores :…

  • I was thinking about this a while ago, & I decided that dehydrated food & herbal tea would work. The idea about learning about wild edibles is good, too, so you could have something fresh! rawclaire, what is lucuma powder? I’ve never heard o…

  • Amazing, isn’t it? It is so easy to go back to something you know isn’t what you really want! That’s cool you made smoothies for everyone, though. When I travelled last summer, I just took a cooler that I kept filled with ice, and I bought fresh pro…
  • Cool – Thanks! The garlic works perfect through the snowy winter. I also read that kale will grow through the winter, but I’m not sure how cold/snowy a winter. I want to try it next winter – fresh greens all winter?! Talk about battling the winter b…

  • Do you leave the green top on the green onion? Does it grow into a bunch of green onions, or one bigger onion? I have garlic in my garden that I plantedin October, and it is growing. I never thought about trying it inside, though. This is the first …

  • Thank you! That sounds sooooo good. I always grow lots of zucchini & yellow squash in the summer & I am collecting recipes to use them in! :)

  • Oooh, that sounds good. Are you going to post the recipe?

  • I once had a tomatillo plant that was started indoors by planting a thin slice of the tomatillo! It grew a little ring of tomatillo seedlings because the seeds go all the way around the slice! Too much competition in so small a space, so only one wa…

  • pianissima – thanks for the recipe! I have been wanting to make my own sun-dried tomatoes from the ones I grow in my garden! lapetitemort – I think we don’t get enough light in the house to grow tomatoes, but I will try it now. I never would have th…

  • Thanks for the info. about nutsonline. I just wanted to point out to anyone not aware, that the non-organic almonds ARE pasteurized. So to be safe on raw, I guess only the organic ones count.
  • Luna blu – I read somewhere that a lot of nuts are heated, but still labelled as raw because they are not pasteurized. Pecans are steamed before they are taken out of their shells, so they will come out in neat halves instead of pieces. shgadwa – ha…
  • Maybe I’ll buy two trees :) Thanks for the info. about the almond growers vs. handlers – I’ve been wondering about that.
  • www.livingtreecommunity.com sells almonds that aren’t pasteurized, for now. I don’t know how long they will be able to do that, since they are in the USA (California). I am buying a case of their almond butter now, just in case. I also found out the…
  • I have thought for a couple of years now that I would love to have a raw bed & breakfast! Cool! Thanks for the inspiration!
  • I’m 33. shgadwa, You are not too young to fast! I know tons of people who fast on just water for 24 hours at a time on a regular basis (once a month) from the time they are kids. I agree with rawclaire, though, maybe make your fast shorter and/or ea…

  • Wow! I just thought of something I used to eat: a bowlful of sprouted lentils with olive oil, avocado (cubed), sea salt & dulse. I probably needed iron – I used to crave it all the time, even though the flavor was a little strange!
  • FleshMechanic – Congratulations! Here is some info. about anemia: There is something in sesame seeds that combats anemia. It was called vitamin T in the book I have, not sure if it is called something different now. Other raw vegan food sources of i…
  • I also have started using green juice when I feel hungry but not wanting to eat anything I have. I use kale, celery, cucumber, lime, ginger and sometimes parsley or cilantro. Or sometimes just lots of water, or nothing. I guess I am grateful my body…
  • I have been experiencing the same thing, and Zoe, I have started listening to my body, too, though I have still been in the semi-freaked-out stage. Thank you for your input! I started eating only when I am hungry. Some days that is a lot & other…

  • UTAH! I live here, so I could afford to come:) We do have a really good raw food restaurant and several raw food experts & chefs around here, too.
  • coconutty & renoir, what is ACV? flybaby – that sounds great! I have been wanting to make a creamy garlic dressing, and I have a bunch of sesame seeds, but I didn’t know what to do with them – YUM!
