  • For my green smoothies I put in 1 banana, some orange juice, and then stuff the blender about half full of various different greens + some mint or another herb. The banana makes it nice and creamy, and makes it seem more like a smoothie. Green smoot…
  • Coconut oil is an amazing food/moisturiser. I make a cream out of cocoa butter, coconut oil, almond/grapeseed oil, and some essential oils. Coconut oil also helps repair damage from the sun and repair the skin’s collagen. I read so many things I don…
  • Great idea! I’d love to see something like that!
  • I agree with SocaL. I only use kelp salt in my foods because it’s salt which has been turned into an organic form, as opposed to the regular inorganic table salt.
  • I heard that David Wolfe is working on a blender and that it should be out within the next couple of months. Hopefully he’ll be using glass or stainless.
  • I second that. I bought the beehive about a week ago an it’s working great – and looks nice too ;-).
  • Pyrex makes a good glass tupperware. You can buy it off of Amazon, or check some cooking stores.
  • I agree completely with Shaker. Even though there is much in our environment which is toxic, we vote every day with our dollar and I’ll chose not to purchase something from a company which isn’t doing everything possible to minamalize those toxins. …
  • Is nothing sacred? It’s interesting because I just came back from shopping for a water bottle. I decided not to buy anything because it all just seemed to feel too plasticy and toxic. What does everyone think about these Kleen Canteen bottles? What …
  • Try reading Brendan Brazier’s book The Thrive Diet. He’s a professional althelete and competes in marathons also. I can’t remember if he mentioned anything about detox symptoms, but he does have some good pre/post excerise recipes. Hope that helps!
  • I never knew there was a raw food restaurant downtown! I’ll have to check them out sometime soon. Glad you liked Vancouver though. I’ve never been overly fond of New West either. Basically Vancouver and North Van are the best places. You can take th…

  • Driving by May would probably be fine. You probably don’t want to be driving the coquihalla in the middle of winter. We made it across in a small old car with disfunctional windshield wipers, in the middle of a heavy snowfall. However, that’s about …

  • Frostbite shouldn’t be a problem. We rarely get much snow (with the exception of last winter). However, you will have to learn to love the rain. Plus, downtown is quite dense, so it’s probably quicker to get places. When are you guys coming out here…

  • The aquarium is in Stanley Park, which is also why I mentioned it. In fact, you can see the belguas and the sea lions for free by walking through the park. Although, we were hit with a huge storm last winter and we lost A LOT of old trees. Oh yes, T…

  • I’m actually from Vancouver, so I can help you out with pretty much anything you’d want to know! You’ll probably find it easier being raw over here. We have a fairly large organic/health food movement. In fact, there’s even a society called RawBC. A…

  • I’d say check out Granville Island (In the market place you can get some ogranic food at ‘Spud’s’ stand). I wouldn’t visit Vancouver without seeing the Aquarium – I used to volunteer there. If you or your husband have any specific interests/ideas I …

  • Superfoods do not need to be, and probably should not be eaten is huge quantities anyways. So it stands to reason that they wouldn’t be found growing abundantly everywhere. If so, they would be overeaten. Plus, I’m sure each different area has it’s …
  • Thanks nspanky! I’ll check it out. I’ve actually been looking for a book or course about wild edibles. Organic, local, and free. What more could you ask for? Don’t forget about rosehips. You can harvest a bunch of them in fall, dry them and turn the…
  • nspanky, what company is this? Do they also sell lucuma powder?
  • I use hemp powder and Brendan Brazier’s Vega formula (it has spirulina and maca in it). Personally, I feel better after drinking a Vega shake. I think you should listen to what your body feels is right. If you feel poorly after eating cooked food, w…
  • I thought this site on sequential eating made perfect sense: http://drbass.com/sequential.html Then again, I haven’t done any research about protein and the vagus nerve. Could you please explain this concept further? Have you tried reading Brendan B…
  • You can also try using kelp salt instead of sea salt.
  • Maggie, I never knew iron was connected to hair loss. I googled “iron deficiency” and finally understand why I’ve had more trouble keeping warm after puberty. I’ve only been eating raw for the past 4 months, and before that my diet left much to be d…
  • My hair seems to have thinned out in the past few years (although I’ve only been raw for the past 4 months). Recently I found out that oatmeal is the highest food source of silica, so I’m working on a “healthy hair breakfast cookie” to help my hair …
  • Did you try giving her some flax oil for omega 3’s? I have a friend who has asthma, eczema, along with allergies, and she eats almost nothing containing omega 3’s. Since your daughter doesn’t eat nuts or any seafood I would imagine she’d be deficien…
  • Maybe if you try mixing it with something sweet, like a smoothie, you won’t taste the bitterness as much. I read somewhere that aloe vera increases the absorbtion of vitamins by 200%! I’ve been meaning to try it myself after reading that. The soap t…

  • Another thing to consider is sequential eating: http://drbass.com/sequential.html
  • I’d say just use ‘tabbed’ browsing. That way you can simply open up the recipes you’re interested in a bunch of new tabs in the same browser window. If you’re using OSX then safari will have it, if not then download mozilla (http://www.mozilla.org) …
  • I don’t have any background in natural hygine, but my father was labled a brittle diabetic so I’ve seen the effects of hypoglycemia many times. If I were you I would fast under supervision, or at least keep a glass of fruit juice next to my bed at n…
