  • I don’t think most people do on a daily basis, but keep in mind that the recipes section is like any cookbook and so they’re going to be layered and often pricey. If I went to a cook foods forum I would see and hear the same. Most of your daily diet…

  • That is awesome, steamboatkatie! Good for you:-) Did you have to have any conventional treatment?

  • I noticed when I was a kid that meat made me feel sick and sluggish. Later, as a teen, I started noticing how young boys were growing doughy-fat and growing breasts and young girls were reaching puberty years younger. I thought it was the added horm…

  • I want to make almond milk because I could use a bit of it daily but it’s horribly expensive to get almonds. I, for one, can’t afford them but I’m thinking maybe I should make a big batch fresh every so often and freeze the milk in ice-cube trays. T…

  • LIke I said, smoothielove, don’t assume the nuts from the health food store are really raw. My health food store sells nuts that have been subjected to heat in the shelling process. They call them “raw” only because in the nut business “raw” ONLY me…

  • OH, no no, I”m sorry, kelly! No, they don’t blanch their fruits! As a matter of fact, it’s not the standard anywhere to blanch fruits. They don’t stand it very well and turn into mush. (but you know the industry would do it if it could. I htink they…

  • Angie, I know, I know:( I was disappointed on the macademias because I wanted to make the Raw cream cheese. So I’m going to ask the lady at Living Tree Community how she knows her nuts are raw. I’d like to have a little of the macadamias and I would…

  • Umm . . . okay, I got another answer about the kernals(hulled seeds) but he didn’t tell me how they were hulled: “If they are raw kernels then they are unheated.” The reason why I hesitate with this kind of answer is that it is almost the same answe…

  • Right, you can’t hull them until they’ve dried—that’s why we always let them dry on the flowers until they were ready to be harvested and eaten up. But you’re right about commerically sold seeds, they dry them with blowers or something. I just don’t…

  • I just wrote to the Sunflower Association and asked specifically how they are prepared commerically and at what temperatures, because I’m finding that no one can be trusted as far as stores go. I see so-call “raw” nuts and seeds sold all the time th…

  • You’re speaking of dry beans in a bag, right? I’m finding that at my store, some things in the bulk bins tend to be not popular with the local folk and are quite old. The dark lentils never sell much and when I try to sprout them, their growth is fe…
  • Is the Tribal personal blender strong enough to make a seed pate? LIke from sesame seeds?
  • What’s more suprising to me is that people don’t know what color a fruit is on the tree:-D Unfortunately there is precious little produce that is not picked green.
  • I think it’s peanuts that pose the danger, which are actually legumes. Though a lot of places that process real nuts also process peanuts, and that’s where the contamination comes in.

  • Do you have any idea of how impressive it is to see someone NOT throw a handful of Cheerios on their baby’s tray?? I’ve wept over seeing mothers do that since I was a teenager. I know I didn’t answer your question, but it’s just that I had to say yo…

  • I actually feel colder but I don’t mind it nearly as much, if that makes sense. I recover from it much faster. (I think I feel colder because I’m not eating anywhere near as much fats as before, though)
  • If you’re going to pop them directly into the blender/processor, it’s fine. Just remember that if you thaw most frozen veggies out, they turn to mush if they haven’t been blanched first. I freeze my kale all the time, for weeks at a time. I don’t th…

  • The only place that I’ve trusted 100 percent to have nuts so far is this place: http://www.livingtreecommunity.com/store2/defau… I know lots of places claim raw nuts but they’re not always raw.
  • I think it means one cup dry. Soak them and then blend them with more water. Most recipes I see seem to call for 2 to 3 cups of added water. Start with two and see how you like it.
