  • Hi AVL, I'm no expert (and not 100% raw myself) but would say that if you're running 10k at the start of the day, you'll probably need to eat quite a bit to ensure you have enough calories to keep yourself going. I have been running lots recently an…

  • Wow, you are so organised to have come up with that menu/plan for your trip. I hate to state the obvious, but how about just having fruit for lunch? Simple and tasty! Hope you have a great time.
  • I think this is just one of those topics which will always cause debate. There have been quite a few discussions on this site relating to this. I use agave occasionally, but like using dates/maple syrup to sweeten things. (I'm not 100% raw)

  • Mikfizzle, if you have lots of carrot pulp, you've got to try the carrot crackers on this site. They are amazing! http://goneraw.com/node/6388
  • Hi Oki, Check out the 'Dirty Dozen' list which you can download at http://www.foodnews.org/walletguide.php. Its great if you're on a budget. Good luck!
  • oh wichten, that really sucks. Although I've taken a fair bit of ribbing from my colleagues in the past, they would never be like that. They cook all kinds of rubbish in the microwave which often stinks to high heaven so they don't have a leg to sta…

  • I'm just reading The Four Agreements and would highly recommend it to anyone. The second Agreement is 'Don't take anything personally'. This book is a really good read and I hope to gain enormously from the wise words.

  • Chin up Troubles, I read something the other day which said 'Don't Take Anything Personally. Nothing other people do is because of you. It's because of themselves'. I think that really sums it up! I too have had my fair share of odd looks and jokes …

  • I'd say I grew up eating pretty healthily (by junk SAD standards anyway). My Mum would cook freshly prepared meals every days which included plenty of veg. She wouldnt give us junk. She didn't let us drink fizzy drinks and we had to beg for 'treats'…
  • Welcome along skymn! Thank you for sharing your story - it sounds like you've overcome some really hard times. I hope the raw lifestyle is healing for you. You'll find this site provides great support so it's great you've discovered it! Best wishes …

  • Hi fruitie, it's a hard one I know. Although I'm not 100% (I'm high raw), I have found myself avoiding certain situations when I know the food on offer will be limited or no raw options. I also know how it feels to not really want to explain my diet…

  • Hi Abbie, try not to be too disheartened by your first few days raw. The above posts have some great advice in and I'd slow down a bit and start gradually. It's great you've chosen to make some changes but going from eating junk food to raw is a hug…
  • Mikfizzle, it's such a shame that woman had to go throw a spanner in the works after a good appt with the doc. Ignore her ignorance and work on making sure your mum remembers what the doc said. I dont have any advice about Spiruten I'm afaid but wan…

  • I drink blackcurrent tea and peppermint tea. Love it!
  • I love corn and luckily don't seem to have any adverse reactions . I tend to go through phases where I eat it everyday then lay off it for while. Mmm, this is making me hungry!

  • Ah joannabanana, I feel for you! I am constantly buying bananas to make sure I always have some at just the right ripeness. I love the fact that any surplus can be frozen. I am so addicted to my ice cream at the moment...it's become a nightly ritual…
  • I'm currently addicted to frozen bananas with maple syrup, cinnamon, raisins and buckwheaties for a bit of crunch.....soooooo good! Would highly reccomend!
  • Thanks for your post bean, I use apple cider vinegar almost daily (in my salad dressing) but after reading your comments I'm thinking I should at least switch to rice vinegar.

  • I've never liked peanut butter but I find roasted/salted peanuts totally addictive! My BF sometimes buys them and if I have just one...I cannot stop! I try to avoid them at all costs because of this. I also read somewhere (could have been on this si…
  • Hi Ashton, I must say I don't sprout that much but mung beans and quinoa are dead easy. Start small and see how things turn out. Quinoa sprouts really quickly and it's good for filling salads. Good luck on your raw journey!

  • Hi troubles, rebounding is basically bouncing/doing exercise routines on a mini trampoline. It looks like a fun way to work out. Will let you know how it goes (once I actually get started)!

  • Oh my god, I've just watched the trailer for Earthlings and I feel really sick. I'm currently a veggie (although I rarely eat dairy/eggs) and have been thinking about turning vegan for a while now. I'd wondering if watching this kind of film might r…

  • I'd like to add that Jennifer Cornbleet's book 'Raw Food Made Easy' is another really great but simple recipe book which I use all the time. My Mum gave me Juliano's Raw book, which is beautiful to look through but I honestly don't think I'll ever u…
  • Hi Joyce, your food always looks amazing!
  • Haha! It's nice to hear your story and I must confess I was almost as excited as that when mine was delivered! I did spinich lasagna the other week in mine and it was one of the BEST things I've ever made. So nice to have it warmed with a side of sa…

  • I've been meaning to try those sun burgers ever since I got Ani's book. They look great. I am struggling at the moment to find enough time/money to make all the delicious recipies I keep finding!
  • Hiya Luxdivon, it's great you are so excited and I'm a little envious that both you and your BF are into eating raw. It should help make things much easier in your household if you're both on the same path. Anyway, just wanted to chip in as I dither…
