  • Hi mdc. Try a different technique. Soak overnight (dont forget to wash them really well first, and then again before sprouting), but sprout for up to 3 days and make sure you rinse really well during the sprouting phase - this helps get rid of some …
  • Interesting about the agave tip in place of the maple. I did find the sweetness after a while was grossing me out. I think it was not a food thing, it just killed me socially and practically. I found it hard to lead a 'normal' existence during that …

  • Hi Carrie, you are correct. It is two and two plus half a pint of water. Ideally 6 - 9 glasses a day. Don't forget the cayenne. Good luck, I only did it once for 7 days and would not do it again!

  • Thanks emtpdmom. I guess I should have looked there first. Found it hard to navigate around the new site.
  • I guess you can count me as one of the 'old' ones too. I can't use the change of site an excuse although I must admit it took me a while to get started again. I'm back because I have lost my way on raw due to too much travelling. I'm looking for som…
  • Thanks for posting details of this website. I have been looking for something like this for a while. Shipping to the UK is expensive though! If there are any UK raw food retailers reading this, are you able to obtain supplies for us UK raw foodies??
  • Only know you guys! Never met any raw foodists in the North East of England!
  • Hey JKMN, Alix is right. Citrus and greens. Try green smoothies – the orange julius on the recipe pages is quick and satisfying. Stay off the dried fruit and nuts.

  • Couponfork, are don’t say what foods you eat. For example if you are not vegan, there is a temptation to go raw by od’ing on sweet fooods – which will not help your depression. You need to stablise your blood sugar first, so you need a good transiti…

  • Are you still eating seeds? Dressings, sauces and dips made with hemp or sesame (tahini) work for me when I try to not to eat too many nuts. I tried a weird looking recipe made with tahini, peeled zuchinni, garlic, lemon juice and cumin in Rawvoluti…
  • I have a raw friend who had this too. Turned out she was overdoing the citrus and as soon as she cut back it cleared up.
  • Soak the nuts for a few hours. Brazils need a bit longer. Shelled hemp needs no soaking, so is the fastest milk to make if you need something straight away. If you use medjool or fresh dates they don’t need soaking.
  • Have a stock of dried fruit and nut ‘truffles’ in the fridge ready to go in case you get the munchies. For example, goji’s blended with cashew nuts and sunflower seeds, dates blended with almonds and maybe some cacoa nibs. Bliz and roll into small b…
  • If you can source them, raw olives. The raw ones for some reason are very filling and make a change from avo’s.
  • Curried lentils (red ones) – spicy!
  • Hi Frustrated. I understand and have been down this road. I’m a bit of a foodie too and my natural tendency was to go the whole hog and do the gourmet stuff. It beat me in the end and I went back to the drawing board. On my second attempt, I still d…
  • Chrissypie123. Your diet sounds similar to mine. You will lose weight. Just listen to your body – it will tell you what it needs – and don’t worry about the weight thing. You don’t say how long you have been transitioning/totally raw. If you are sti…
  • 123. Thanks for the link to the rye. Who knew you could get a machine with a pretzel attachment – pretty cool!! I’m going to try these they sound great.
  • Umm. This could be an interesting experiment Marichiesa so don’t curse me if I have got these proportions wrong! I typically would do a 2:1 ratio of grains to binding ingredients, eg 2 cups sprouts, half cup of shredded zucchini and half cup of grou…
  • Thanks Rawpease. Whilst I’m not a Chinese medicine expert, I have taken the advice from these pages and it is helping. I live in a cold and wet climate and this time of year I have been eating roasted parsnips, carrots and celery root in the last we…
  • Thanks Sweetpea. I think I now know where I am going wrong as my diet contains alot of avocado, nuts and tropical fruit…...... I have upped my intake of spices in the last few days and root vegetables, and whether it is co-incidental or not, I am fe…
  • Thanks so much to you all for replying to my cry for help. I got very confused because TCM and macrobiotic sites talk about yang foods in slightly different ways. I’m ploughing through all of the recommended links. I love the ideas for including war…
  • Eat Smart, Eat Raw – Kate Wood. Practical, easy to use. Raw Food, Real World. Converted me to raw easily. Rawvolution – love it. These three are my favourites and the recipe’s work! Just bought Cafe Gratitude and working through a few of the rec…
  • North East England.
  • I agree with Kellygoneraw about taking it slowly and having green smoothies. However I do eat nuts, but I make sure I don’t OD on them. For the food I take to work, I take 6 or 7 almonds. It doesnt sound alot, but if you need to take the edge off th…
