Question: Is cold as bad as heat?

I know that enzymes denature if they a heated, but also cold has the same effect. Does the raw diet also exclude fridge/freezer options?

  • Good question. I know you can heat your food but only below 104 degrees. I’m sure someone will come up with a great answer…

freezing does not in any way chemically change or denature molecules the way heating does, it simply slows down the movement of particles. so no, enzymes (or anything else for that matter) won’t denature when frozen.
that being said, many will argue that cold food isn’t excellent for the digestive system either (due to it possibly irritating internal organs/slowing function of liver?), and also some chinese medicine-esque energy principles would state that cold food is not beneficial.

  • I’ve done some research and you’re right, reactions are slowed down but still take place!
