Detox Question

Hi all- I have been raw for almost 2 weeks. I cant say 100%, but almost there. I typically make a green smootie in the am- either banana/strawberry with spinach, or a banana /peach with spinach. I have about 2 cups, and a plum or some similar fruit if i want one once i get to work.

I snack on cut up peppers, celery, grapes or strawberries until lunch time, (not all of them! usually about one cup of one of those) and then i have a bowl of fruit salad, consisting of watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, kiwi, red grapes and cut strawberries. I some times sprinkle some raw sunflower seeds on it. If i get hungry again after that but before i get home, i snack again on the above. Dinner usually is some fruit or a big salad. I dont use salad dressing, usually full of tomatoes, cucumer, carrots etc. I make another green smootie, and then later on when im watching tv at night i usually drink a cup of juice, (carrot, apple and pear). I say im not 100% raw because i do sometimes have a cup of coffee ( im still trying to give it up, im finally down to a cup every other day, instead of 3 cups a day).

My question is, I am not experiencing any detox. Am i doing something wrong? Any suggestions? Does it take longer than 1.5 weeks to kick in??

Thanks guys!

  • I was watching a youtube video of this girl who went raw. Her Bf told her she was gonna go through horrible detox because he did everytime he went raw. She didnt really believe that, and she didnt have detox until like the 7th week of it. So it may be a mind-over-matter thing..

i didn't have any detox symptoms besides pimples, mostly on my back and chest. i felt a lot better going into raw than i felt before i did. my digestive problems stopped like 2 days into raw so that was a blessing. i don't think you have to experience detox symptoms in order for you to be raw.

  • I did have detox symptoms in the first week, headaches and flu-like symptoms. Never experienced anything like it before. I think everybody is going to be different though, and some of it may depend on how many toxins you had in your system when you started (my previous diet was not good at all).
