  • oh and if you don't like red onions, perhaps using a tiny bit of green onions in recipes is a better choice. i always use green, as red is WAYYY to strong for me!
  • IWWkevin - you've only been raw for 2 months. Try eating only raw foods for 1 year, as I have, and i'd like to know if you're still eating just plain fruit and plain veggies and zero cooked food. Sorry, but there is a point to be made - glamazon, li…
  • 2 Tbsp water. 1 tsp or 10 drops of Dr. Bronners liquid soap. Several drops of lavender oil (for improved taste). Dip your toothbrush in the mixture, and brush your teeth. The soap disinfects. Remake this mixture every 2 weeks, or once it's gone.
  • A quick word of advice from someone who's successfully been very very high raw for 1 year, with no cooked cravings - You might want to consider trying what's best for you, instead of following a rigid diet (811). Every body is different, and i'm mor…
  • This recipe is AMAZING I eat it like crazy. http://therawchefblog.com/carrot-orange-cake/ Here's a delicious menu book: http://oneweekraw.com/ Some of the recipes are by me (Winona). I can't stop eating the polenta/mushroom/gravy dish featured in th…

  • First of all - we need to know what you eat. Go into detail. Second, do you do colon hydrotherapy? Elimination is key to keeping your system healthy.

  • Welcome Marley! We're very glad to have you here. This particular community at goneraw is what helped me go raw and more importantly, stay raw. I love recipes and experimenting with new produce - hopefully you'll enjoy raw even more as summer comes …

  • ooo congrats Kandace! how exciting that you're expecting.
  • Instead of buying a juicer, you could use your high speed blender to blend up the greens/veg/fruit with water. Then strain through a nut milk bag. I do it - works wonderfully! Very quick clean up too - i rarely use my juicer because of the clean up …
  • The RDA for women is around 46g/day for adult females, 56g/day for adult males. Use nutridiary to see that you'll easily exceed this amount IF you're eating enough calories, on a plant based diet. By enough calories, i mean the right # of calories f…

  • oooph, i could use some of that extra energy right now - all day i've wanted to do all day is get off work, go home and curl up under my electric blanket in bed. I'm SOOOOO sleepy. I eat very high raw which means ENERGY so i forget to slow down and …
  • Sorry to hear about the gallbladder! My digestive problems were fixed by eating very high raw, all vegan. Hopefully you find the right diet to help you heal!
  • I don't have any ideas, but i found a good therapist by simply trying a couple of them out (1 session each)... and i found one i liked. Regular counselors don't normally prescribe drugs - mine just talks to me, and is helpful.
  • livingnutritionals has good prices on raw nori.
  • Oh Bah, green beans are poisonous raw - i love to freeze them then thaw them out, so they taste 'cooked'
  • *Barf* Was that eloquent? When I read about the list of what PRODUCTS heavy metals are in, I was shocked and alarmed. Now heavy metals are in SAD food too? Rank!!! This redoubles my enthusiasm for yurt living, a place safe from years of toxic paints…
  • I love your blog! The recipes are great, photos are beautiful. It's interesting to hear your reviews of the Sweet Gratitude Cookbook. Thanks Joyce!

  • *groan* i wish nuts didn't have to be soaked. i never get around to it - can't plan that far in advance. perhaps i should soak, dry, then freeze them? cashews in breakfast cereal sounds yummy!
  • If you do the worm composting, do it RIGHT - several of my friends weren't super attentive, and they had LARVAE in their worm compost bins, and it was stinky - not fun. I have my compost in plastic baggies, and every day i put it in the trash by the…

  • I'd recommend getting colon hydrotherapy. I had the same problem as you, and it wasn't fixed till i did colon hydrotherapy regularly (every 2 months). Also, nuts and nutmilk can cause gas. As can cruciferous veggies.
  • the strawberry girl - you can use nutridiary to find out your fat percentage. you just enter the foods you ate that day, and it tells you the percentages if you're curious.
  • I can relate to the white rice, fatty entree, and lots of sugary tea!! I was raised on similar foods... Huge platters of heavy dishes, eat till you drop and then have dessert! Until I found raw, I was sure i'd follow my relatives down the path of we…
  • I made Matthew Kenny's Chocolate Hazelnut Torte for my boyfriend. He loved it!! Glamazon - yes we smell better and taste better, lol. Vegan alternatives is a good idea. Taking the partner to vegan or raw restaurants is another good way to get them h…

  • Raw and SINGLE men are very rare. I didn't bother finding one. Another option is to find a partner open to eating mostly raw.

  • Thanks for chiming in, Beany. He does eat a *few* types of fruit, but usually nothing else plant based. It's weird as a super-foodie, to adjust to this fact. I have rows and rows of spices, seasonings, dried fruits, nuts, sweeteners, oils, not to me…

  • I'm dating a guy so picky he refuses anything other than 10 foods. What would you do, dating someone who refuses to try most fruit/veg/dishes at all, cooked or raw? It makes me sad that I can't share my food with him, or make him anything at all. Th…
