Does it matter?

Does it really matter if i spend 200 or 10 dollars on a dehydrator? I really don’t want to spend 200.. but i don’t want crappy results either.

You should be able to get a good Excalibur 4 tray for around 100$. The 10$ ones are probably going to give you crappy result

As long as the dehydrator can do the work.

The Excalibur has the fan on the back, allowing the air to flow through and the moisture out the other side. For dehydrators with the fan on the bottom, the moisture rises up, so the top ones take longer than the bottom ones to dehydrate (thus, more dehydrating time)... or you have to rotate the trays.

    Just something to think about.

  • When buying a dehydrator, it’s important to buy one that has a temperature dial. Otherwise, the dehydrator may be cooking your food without your knowing. You need to be able to set the temp to 105 degrees or 118 degrees (depending on what you believe is a raw temp.) I read a post once from someone who didn’t have a dial. She tested the temp and it was around 130 which isn’t raw.
