Sprouting seeds

Hello everyone! i am interested in growing my own sprouts, but im not sure if you need to buy certain sprouting seeds? like for example can i use the sunflower seeds i buy in the bulk bin to sprout? also i mean sprouting like using the jar method wear you soak them, then rinse and drain for a few days...

any info would be helpful! thanks ;)
